Data Science is the study of extracting meaningful insights from data by combining domain expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of mathematics and statistics. Machine Learning models process data in the form of text, images, videos, and other highly unstructured formats. Data Science allows us to convert data into the numerical equivalent of it. And with the data in a numerical format, the possibilities to access, preserve and understand the data increases to a great extent.

And with the data in a numerical format, the possibilities to access, preserve and understand the data increases to a great extent.

A data scientist's responsibilities include:

  • Developing data analysis strategies
  • Preparing data for analysis
  • Exploring, analysing, and visualising data
  • Creating models with data using programming languages such as Python and R
  • Deploying data models into applications

It is expected that the total amount of data being consumed globally will grow to over 180 zettabytes by 2025. Students wanting to pursue a career in this field can, therefore, expect a bright future ahead.

What can one do with a BTech in Data Science?

Data Science is becoming increasingly important to businesses around the world. Regardless of the type of industry or the size of it, organisations are using Data Science to stay relevant in this competitive world. Without developing necessary resources and implementing Data Science, chances are high that an organisation will risk falling behind.

Data Science relies on large amounts of sourcing (or extracting) high-quality data. When that volume is large, it is referred to as Big Data. The Big Data, Analytics, and Application Database Solutions are expected to grow from $6.4 billion in 2017 to $12 billion by 2027. It is clearly a lucrative career opportunity.

A degree in BTech in Data Science ensures a promising future through career options such as Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Data Architect, and Data Engineer.
