DU Admission Process 2021
Candidates seeking admission to Delhi University on the basis of cutoffs can follow the steps mentioned below:
- DU admission form 2021: Delhi University Admission forms were made available to candidates from August 2, 2021, onwards. Candidates have to fill DU application form 2021 online by visiting the official website of the varsity until August 31, 2021. Candidates have to pay DU application fee 2021 in online mode through credit card/ debit card/ net banking. The application/registration fee for the DU Admissions is different for different categories as well as for merit-based and entrance-based courses and has to be paid accordingly at the time of application.
- DU cutoffs: Once DU registration process is over and Class 12th Board Exam results are announced, the Delhi University release the cutoffs for different UG courses on its official website. Candidates need to check if they are meeting the cutoff for their respective course. Thereafter, they need to login to the DU admission portal to choose a college and course from the list of colleges and courses they are available for.
- Document verification: Candidates meeting the required cutoff need to participate in the document verification process conducted at different colleges of Delhi University. For the same, candidates need to visit their preferred college with a printout of the application form, all educational documents and certificates (original and photocopy), and three recent passport size photographs. Once the document verification process is completed, candidates will be given admission in their respective courses. Read: List of Important Documents Required for DU Admission 2021
- DU admission fee: After completing the document verification process, candidates are required to log in to DU admission portal using their registered accounts and pay the prescribed course fee to secure a seat. Note: The official website of Delhi University informs, "The applicant is advised to pay the fee without delay within 24 hrs after the approval of admission by the Head of Institution and save the acknowledgement slip bearing transaction ID, Credit Card/ Debit card/ Net banking details and date of transaction as a proof for future reference. On successful payment of fees, the applicant is granted provisional admission to the said college."
- Change of college/ course: In case, candidates wish to withdraw their admission after the release of subsequent DU cutoff lists, they are advised to first ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria and any other requirements (if any) for the course/ college. If sure, they can cancel their admission on the admission portal and visit the preferred college with the new application form and complete the document verfication process (explained in the step above). The admission fee paid for the previous college will be refunded (with a deduction of Rs 1,000 as cancellation fee) and visible in the Wallet section of the dashboard. It may be noted that only one cancellation is allowed per cutoff list released by DU.
Note: Candidates must note that owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and prevailing public health guidelines, UG merit-based admissions under the ECA and Sports Categories will take place without the conduct of online/offline trials. Admissions under these supernumerary seats will be done based on the Merit/Participation certificates of the applicants. Only for this year, the applicants will be allowed to upload certificates of the preceding four years (1st May 2017 – 30th April 2021).
DU Cutoffs
The cutoff of DU is basically the minimum marks at which candidates are considered qualified for the document verification process. Delhi university cutoffs are released on the basis of a number of seats available in each college of the varsity for different courses.
Once the varsity releases the cutoff list, candidates need to calculate their percentage of ‘best of four’ subjects and meet the DU cutoff of the course in which they are seeking admission.
In 2020, Delhi University had released a total of 9 DU cutoff 2020 for various courses offered under the streams of Humanities, Commerce and Science streams. University of Delhi had released 9th Cut off 2020 on January 2, 2021 and 8th cut off list 2020 (NCWEB) on December 26, 2020.
Changes in DU Admission Process 2021
Considering the challenges that emerged last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for this academic year 2021-22, for the benefit of the students, the University has decided to retain the Eligibility Criteria as last year. The University has also decided that there will be no change in the Registration fees for Merit-Based and Entrance-Based admissions. Centralised UG admissions will be done through one Registration-cum-Application form. All Departments/ Colleges will use the same Registration-cum-Application Form for admissions and the candidates will not have to fill any other form.
