Mystory@Rohith Pushpa Raju

In the constantly evolving world of Science and Technology, I wish to expand my range of learning. With definitive purpose to gain a fine understanding in Engineering, I desire to convert my intention into logic through BTech degree in Engineering.

Trying to grasp the basics of science in my secondary learning, an interest in the field generated. For detailed understanding, I took up science in my higher secondary. To adopt Engineering as my career stream, I focused on Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry

Sitting for the IIT entrance examination, I secured admission in Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 2008 to pursue Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication course, which I completed in 2012.

How I cracked college admission

With a definitive purpose to gain a fine understanding in the segment of marketing, operations, finance and entrepreneurship. I wanted to convert my intention into logic and thought of pursuing an MBA degree.

Working in the direction of my focus, after three years of industry experience in software and business domain I sat for the competitive CAT entrance examinations and thereafter secured admission in Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. IIT Roorkee is one of the top-ranking management institutions in India. I joined IIT Roorkee in 2016 cracking CAT to pursue my MBA. During this programme, I understood the basics of Marketing, disruptive trends which coupled with their practical applications, strengthened my interests. During my semester learning, I gained an understanding in the core areas of marketing operations and finance complimented with case studies.

What I gained from my college experience

I gained an understanding in the core areas of Electronics and Communications like Signal and Systems, Computer Architecture and Microprocessor, Digital Hardware lab, Digital electronics, Analog Electronics, Principals of digital communication, Automatic control systems, Digital Control Systems, Engineering Electromagnetic, Principles of digital communication, Artificial Neural Network and application, RF Microwave receiver design for wireless applications, Artificial Intelligence, Microprocessor and interfacing techniques. Fiber optics and Micro strip antennas was my major.

My major project in audio visual speech recognition using lip geometric features included face detection, eye localisation and lip tracking. During this, I was further captivated by the power of electronics and communications. My internship on Remote Monitoring of Rural People (Telemedicine) comprising transmitting patient’s data directly from patient monitoring systems to a specialist in other regions using GPRS intensified my interest.

MBA credential allowed me to explore a broader set of career options matching my personal intent.

While studying Electronics and Communication Engineering, I was exposed to the various arte facts and diverse theories and concepts. Since Electronics and Communication Engineering is a very vast field, it is difficult to have specific knowledge catering to specific area of interest as individuals have varied preferences. With my Bachelor’s learning, a foundation in the subject was fostered. With globalisation gaining momentum, the employment prospects are becoming further competitive.  During my research as a part of my coursework, I identified the significance of higher studies. Bachelor’s learning exposes an individual to the fundamentals but lacks an industrial exposure imperative to succeed. MBA credential allowed me to explore a broader set of career options matching my personal intent.

During this programme, I understood the basics of Marketing, disruptive trends which coupled with their practical applications, strengthened my interests. During my semester learning, I gained an understanding in the core areas of marketing operations and finance complimented with case studies.

Entrepreneurship was one career path that intrigued me. Moreover, it is a major force that propels to facilitate an open, accepting environment for students to share ideas and dreams in order to aid in the process of making a positive impact in our community, nation, and the world.  With faculty and research scholars engaged in deep research and its communication to journals or conferences in narrow areas (albeit of high impact in that area), only a very few find the time and patience to bring their efforts to lime light.

Personal satisfaction has always influenced my career decisions. While true job satisfaction emerges from the opportunity to grow, learn and add value within any industry. Exploring the depth, height and width of every relations while presenting it with consensus of respective disruptive trends will have an impact in any job we get involve in.

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.
