A thorough review of Assam Engineering College.
Placements: More than 50% of students are placed in campus placement every year. This year, till now, 18 Lacs is the highest package offered, and talking about the average, it would be 50,000-60,000. Many PSUs and OIL companies come to our college. Students get internships as well.
Infrastructure: Hostels are well-structured comparatively, though the scope for improvement is definitely there. Wi-Fi is available in all the hostels. There is a separate hostel for the 1st-year students. Food is also decent in the hostel. Every month-end, a hostel fest is arranged, and various dishes are prepared that day. All the events, pujas, are celebrated in the hostels.
Faculty: The faculty members of AEC are well-qualified. They are available for the students always and help us throughout. The course is also made in a way that maximum outcome can be achieved. They conduct various presentations and public speaking programs to make us ready for our future work. Semester exams are moderate. One can pass the exam by covering the course outcome.

Good placement but infrastructure could be improved.
Placements: In B.Tech Mechanical Engineering last year (2024), 80 percent of students were placed. The average salary was 4.5 LPA, with the lowest at 4.2 LPA and the highest at 24 LPA. Top recruiting companies included TCL, ONGC, IOCL, AUDI, VEDANTA, and L&T. There were no significant internship opportunities provided by the college. Job positions offered by recruiters included field engineer, senior coordinator, analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is old compared to other state colleges but includes all necessary amenities, such as Wi-Fi in every class and smart TVs. All labs are well-equipped with top company instruments. There are 8 boys' hostels and one large girls' hostel, each well-provided with facilities for a peaceful stay. The mess is run by the superintendent and provides non-veg food 5 days a week and veg 2 days a week, along with vegetarian breakfast and lunch every day. All hostels have their own playing fields and sports equipment for a healthy student lifestyle.
Faculty: All faculty members are qualified and experienced, holding doctorates from prominent NITs and IITs. The teacher-to-student ratio is good for better individual attention. The course curriculum is designed to suit students for job descriptions and higher studies. Each semester includes 3 class tests and one final end-semester examination. The exams are mainly based on previous university question papers and are not very difficult to pass.
