I'm satisfied with my college. Faculty members are good, and the infrastructure is good.
Placements: Our batch has not been allotted any placements till now but our passout batch has almost 80 percent placement. The highest package is 24 LPA, the lowest is 2.5 LPA, and the average is 6.5LPA. Our top recruiting company is Numaligarh Refinery Limited. Almost everyone gets an internship in the companies that they choose like IOCL, NRL, and APL. The roles mostly offered are technical-based.
Infrastructure: Labs are high-tech with every machine you need. Classrooms are good. The library is good too and you can get every book you need. Hostels are well-maintained with all the necessities like water filters, Wi-Fi, etc. The food is good too. The food in our canteen is awesome too. For sports we have more than available fields. For cricket and football we have a field. We have an indoor stadium for all the indoor games.
Faculty: Our teachers are very good and very interactive. They always help us throughout our course with the laboratory practices and make the students industry-ready. The semester exams are mediocre in my opinion. If you study all the materials provided by the teachers, you'll pass the exam easily. The pass percentage is almost 85 percent I would say.
Other: I always wanted to become a chemical engineer because I liked chemistry, and my brother was also in this line so he was my inspiration. Our college has an annual cultural fest called Pyrokinesis, which is one of the biggest college fests in NE India. The event is held for 4 days with famous artists and a DJ. We wait the entire year for these 4 days.

It is absolutely good because of the location, faculty, technology, labs, hostel, and placements.
Placements: In Assam Engineering College, about 40-50% of students get placed in a year from every branch. The top recruiting companies are Indian Oil, NRL, APL, etc. At Assam Engineering College, courses offered are suitable for all the technologically advanced courses.
Infrastructure: Accommodation of the hostel is very good in Assam Engineering College for both boys and girls. But the availability of seats is more than the seats for girls. The food is good in hostels of Assam Engineering College. The availability of a field for playing is good.
Faculty: Professors are highly educated in their field so they teach properly about our subjects. In Assam Engineering College, they added new courses to cope with the new technology. End-semester exams are slightly tough for some subjects. But students can pass with some tricks like doing previous years' question papers, etc.

College life at Assam Engineering College.
Placements: Placements of Assam Engineering College is decent enough. Many companies visit the campus for placement drives, in which there are companies like NRL, ONGC, Vedanta Limited, etc. The highest package offered by NRL is 24 LPA to 8 students. The average package was 7 LPA in the year 2024.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure needs much more improvement. There is no indoor stadium. There is a college gym but it is not functional. Hostels at AEC are pretty good. There are 9 hostels, and 8 of them are for boys and 1 is for girls. Mess food varies for different hostels, but almost the food quality is okay.
Faculty: Faculty members at AEC are highly qualified and students are friendly. The problem is the ratio of students to faculty is low, so course completion takes time. If the course is completed on time then students are not able to catch up with the course curriculum.
Other: I chose AEC because it is the best college in Assam after IIT and NIT. In AEC, students get a lot of exposure as there are many clubs and extracurricular activities. AEC conducts the greatest Techno-cultural fest in the whole northeast known as Pyrokinesis.

Dissatisfied with power cut problems and roads, but very good faculty with academic strength.
Placements: 80% were placed in our college . Highest package is 24 LPA, which is offered by PSU NRL (Numaligarh Refinery Limited) . The lowest is 3-4 LPA by mass recruitment companies. Top recruiters are TVS Motors, NRL, APDCL, mass recruitment - Cognizant, Vedanta. Every student gets an internship after our semester exams , but it is only for experience , not a paid internship.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available . Lab facility is very nice , classrooms are maintained . Quality of food is not much good in hostels . Sports and games are maintained . Nice facilities with maintained ground !/ can be improved more as funds are provided by the state government.
Faculty: Faculty is very good , qualified , knowledgeable . Course curriculum is relevant . Semester exams are not much difficult to crack . Pass percentage is approx 60 % as one subject backlog remains for students , that is Maths . It does make the students industry ready.
Other: Low fees . Environment is a little dirty because of the roads.

It has good infrastructure, good teachers and poor placements now, but they were very good earlier.
Placements: Approximately 30% of the students get placed from our college with the highest salary package of 18 LPA. The average salary package offered is 6 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA. Top companies which visit our college for placements are Oil, BCPL, Cognizant, Capgemini, NRL, HUL, Amazon, Reliance, etc. All students are given an opportunity to do an industrial internship in the 6th semester by the TP cell.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very old here, but our college is equipped with the latest facilities and classrooms. The library is a bit old, and the canteen doesn't serve very good and healthy food. However, with respect to the money, the food is fine. There are poor medical facilities and sports facilities. However, labs are pretty well-equipped with equipment and instruments.
Faculty: Teachers here are surely very well experienced in the field of teaching and research. Teachers have vast industrial knowledge. The course curriculum is very good and designed by ASTU. The course curriculum is up to date and based on the credit system.
Other: The connectivity is very good with ISBT and the airport. The annual fest organised here is Pyrokinesis.

An average engineering. College with a spacious campus but low placements.
Placements: Placement in this college isn't particularly great. Very less number of students actually get placed in good companies to be very honest. In chemical engineering branch, we have 54 students & out of those only 2 students are placed so far till now, one in Dalmia Cement & another in Luit Minerals. I donot have exact data on the salaries but they are in the 3-4 Lacs CTC range. As far as internships are concerned, we got a chance of selecting from PSUs within Assam, like Indian Oil Noonmati, Bongaigaon, Digboi, NRL, BVFCL, APL.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure isn't great but they have the basic, necessary infrastructure required for completion of the course. Wi-Fi isn't really available practically; classrooms, labs, library are moderately fine. I can't say too much about the hostels since I'm not a hosteller; I go to college from my home. But as far as I know & have seen & heard, hostels in the college are not really modern and sophisticated & super clean but still liveable. Mess food quality is okay, sports & games are just fine, & medical facilities are acceptable.
Faculty: Teachers of the Chemical engineering. Dept. Are well educated & qualified; but teaching quality is just average. The faculty is helpful anyway. To be honest, the way we are taught things in class doesn't exactly make us industry ready. There is fair bit of lag, I should say.
Other: I wanted to be an engineer for sure, always. At first I was more interested to opt for mechanical engineering. But my rank in the entrance exam wasn't sufficient to get in mechanical. My next choice was chemical engineering. & subsequently I opted for it. I wish the course related more to the Industry & actual work rather than being too theoretical as it is now. Also, the process of semester result & backlog examination is too lacklustre & I wish it could be a lot faster.

I am not much satisfied with teaching, laboratory environment, placements and infrastructure.
Placements: Almost 30% of the students got placed. Though it is not same sometimes, it goes below this. The salary package offered ranges between 3-10 LPA. NRL, IOCL and other PSUs visit the campus for placements, but not every year. Depending on the year, some companies don't visit our campus for placements. There are not many facilities provided for us to go through an internship. We should arrange it on our own.
Infrastructure: Laboratory facilities were not upgraded, same old apparatus is used from decades until now. The library is not able to provide all course-related books and other skilled books. They are also not much facility provided to us while issuing library books during recess time.
Faculty: The way of teaching is not up to that mark to reaches every student in terms of spreading education. The course curriculum is also not updated with time, and the same old methods are used. It should be upgraded to make us a skilful in every manner.
Other: I have chosen this course as I am interested to learn and enhance knowledge about chemical-based companies and also to get a job in that category.

Faculty members are good and supporting but the placement scenario is not that satisfactory.
Placements: Around 20-30 percent students are placed every year in cement companies, paint companies. Top recruiting companies include PSUs like NRL, OIL, ONGC etc. They pay an average package of around 16-20 Lacs per annum. The highest salaries are given by PSUs while cement companies give the least packages to my knowledge, which may be around 2.5 Lacs per annum. Also the students are encouraged to participate in various workshops organized by the department and also different workshops held in IITG and other institutes. Also students goes for internship to different institutions, companies depending on the year they are in. We are usually asked to do Institutional internships such as in IITG, IASST, NEIST, etc. Also around 10 students are also sent to PSG college of technology in South India as a part of TEQIP-lll programme. After 6 semester students usually go for internships in OIL, ONGC, BRPL etc. We are also taken for site visit in nearby cement factories, paper mills etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel has Wi-Fi facility, it is an amazing experience to be there. Though in case of hygiene, students need to compromise. Since hostel were built a long time, so there are lots of problems like the bathroom, fans etc., which can be improved. Now money has been sanctioned and renovation of hostels have begun. In case of money, hostel is affordable to everyone who takes admission in the college. Classrooms are equipped with projector and also library provides us books at the beginning of semester though it needs to be upgraded. Food quality in hostel mess is good enough in respect of the mess dues collected. The mess dues varies from 2000-2700 depending on the hostel taken. There is a good chance to grow in different sports activity where you can present your talent in college week held in the month of January and February every year.
Faculty: Yes. After three years of being in the college, I can say that the teachers are qualified and smart enough to teach about the subject but some teachers are not able to make students understand. Due to NBA the course has been made to meet a student industry ready at the end of the degree course. But new technology needs to be introduced in the college to learn about the present as well as future technologies.
