If you want to complete an engineering degree with minimal packages this college is for you.
Placements: 30 percent of students are placed. The highest package is 12 lacs, and the average package is around 2 to 3 lacs. Top recruiting companies are Wipro and TCS. On average, 30 to 40 percent of students get an internship at another company. So, college placement is average. But most students are able to qualify for off-campus placements.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available, but the speed is not very fast. Also, it has a proxy, so some mobile applications and games can't be run. Classrooms are decent, with AC facilities. The hostel fee is very low, only 3,000 rupees a year. Mess fees are not included in the hostel fee.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and well-qualified, but the teaching quality is not good. The curriculum is not very beneficial for becoming industry-ready, since its focus is on the theoretical part. Semesters are neither too easy nor too difficult. The pass percentage is almost 95 percent. Only classroom theory and questions are on the exam.
Other: This course is almost the same as the computer science course. Since I was not able to take computer science at other universities, I chose this college. This course can be improved by reducing theoretical content and focusing mainly on practical things. However, it has one of the best campuses, full of trees and lakes. Some small events, like "holidays" and "udbhab", are organized here.

The Gauhati University is really good for study purpose.
Placements: 80% of our students were placed, including myself, in our course of Information Technology at Gauhati University. The highest package on our college campus is 11 LPA; the lowest is 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are Tech Variable, Infosys, Nvidia, and Zoho. 90% of students got internships at companies like Nativebyte Software LLP, Infosys, etc. Top roles in my course are web developer, full-stack developer, app developer, and in cyber security, etc.
Infrastructure: The facilities in all the departments are very good, with punctuality and management, with a full Wi-Fi system in every class, laboratory, and library, which is the biggest library, the Krishna Kanta Handique Library. The food quality is the best for the monthly budget, and hospital facilities are available 24/7.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful in every activity, including exam preparation and participation. Teachers help with all helpful notes and doubts. If there is any extra curriculum relevant, the professors and teachers give their best to organize it. The difficulty of the exams is quite good. If the preparation of a student is good, then they can easily secure 90% marks, depending on the course.
Other: Gauhati University is an A+ NAAC-accredited campus university, which brought me here for study purposes, with good financial effort. The university should give a good amount of time before exams to get ready, which is an issue for everyone. Events and fests are organized occasionally in a proper way by the union bodies and professors. The crowd capacity is not much. Extracurricular activities are held by every department for students' knowledge growth in technical and non-technical ways.

Overview of GUIST including faculty, infrastructure, hostel, etc.
Placements: Almost 50% got campus placements, while others got off-campus placements, and some of them are preparing for higher education. The highest package is about 8 LPA, while the lowest is 3 LPA, with an average of 4.5 LPA. Mostly, the companies are from the IT sector, including Wipro, SBI, TCS, and HCL. Around 20% got internships in Wipro, and the top roles offered are Software Engineers and IT Engineers.
Infrastructure: There is very good infrastructure available for B.Tech students, which includes digital classrooms (with AC), labs with all working instruments, a wifi-enabled campus, and two libraries (one inside GUIST and the KKH central library). The hostel includes various facilities, such as 24-hour running water and electricity, wifi, a sports ground, and a hospital on campus. The quality of food in the mess varies by hostel. The one I am in now has average food—not bad, but not great either.
Faculty: The teachers are moderately helpful but not 100%. All of the teachers are highly qualified, have the potential to teach, and possess extensive knowledge about the course as well as outside it. Some lectures might be boring, but overall, the experience is good. The course curriculum is almost relevant, but one must gain skills as well to become industry-ready. The semester exams are moderately difficult, with a pass percentage of around 70%.
Other: I chose the B.Tech in Information Technology course because I wanted to enter the IT sector, and this course provides everything I need. The course would be better if it were updated, as everything is evolving, and it might be considered a little outdated. There are events every 1-2 months, making for 7-8 events year-round in just the IT department. If you count other departments, there will be even more. However, it’s your choice to join them or not.

This college can just provide you the degree but the most of the hardwork should be done by you.
Placements: If you study well, you will definitely get placed. There are some good companies that visit our campus, and it all depends on you the way you prepare yourself and are able to impress them. At times, the faculty members will also help you out regarding the course.
Infrastructure: All the classes are equipped with Wi-Fi facilities. As you will be studying at university so there will be a lot of festivals that are organised regularly. The sports facilities are quite good with two indoor stadiums and a football field. Medical facilities are quite okay.
Faculty: Faculty members are good enough to help you out regarding your problems with your studies. There will be exams at regular intervals regarding the courses for your internals. Exams are conducted based on the notes that the teachers give during the class and some PDFs too.

Satisfied with the course and supports from the teachers.
Placements: Placement cell consist of final year B.Tech student and a departmental teacher. Previous placements are average 6/10. Final year placement is going on. Institute starts to give internship. Students can apply Governments merit-cum Scholarship. Placement team is very active.
