Q: Does COEP, Pune take direct admission for BTech courses?

No, all BTech courses at COEP, Pune accept admissions on entrance basis for first year admissions. However, candidates applying for lateral entry will be selected based on last qualifying exam score, if they fulfill BTech eligibility criteria. MHT-CET or JEE Mains are used to decide BTech admissions for Mharashtra and non Maharashtra candidates respectively.

After attaining valid CAT percentile, go to the official MAH CET portal (https://cetcell.mahacet.org/) and create a new account.

Students have to upload and get their academic documents, identity proofs, and CAT scorecard verified online or at a designated Physical Scrutiny Center (FC) to get their name included in provisional state merit list.
Once the merit lists are published, submit preference list via the portal and lock COEP Pune as the top preference.
If the attained CAT percentile clears the high All-India cutoff thresholds, student will be allocated a seat during the standard CAP rounds.
Those who couldn't gain admission via the regular counselling process can also register for the Spot rounds if any seat is vacant.

This college has a good balance of academics and extracurricular activities.

Placements: COEP has a very good placement rate. The placement rate for the instrumentation branch is 100 percent while the overall percentage for all branches stands at around 75-80 percent. Core branches also have a very good placement rate in both core and non-core sectors.

Infrastructure: The college has very good infrastructure, labs for each department, and also dedicated clubs for research in various fields. There is a problem with the hostel. There is no 100 percent accommodation for the boys hostel it is a merit-based admission process for the hostel. The girls' hostel has 100 percent accommodation.

Faculty: Faculty members are highly experienced and have quality teaching. Good laboratory experience and lab instructors. Faculty members are supportive. Exam level is moderate to high and varies for different courses. Industrial internships give students industry experience. Passing percentage is 35 percent.

It is a great campus with lots of clubs, fests, helpful seniors, alumni, and good professors,

Placements: About 92% of the students get placed. Placements have been quite consistent throughout the past 10 years of placement data reviewed by the placement cell. The highest salary package offered was 38 LPA, and the lowest was 6 LPA. Texas Instruments, Bharat Petroleum, and Honeywell are the top recruiters. 60% of students got placed in both core and Tech. Technical sales, analyst, and process engineer are the roles offered.

Infrastructure: Facilities like Wi-Fi, library, and non-AC classrooms are available. Mess quality is decent for survival. Hostel rooms are cramped. Sports facilities are great. We also have a boat club. We have various sports clubs like football, basketball, hockey, cricket, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, chess, carrom, etc.

Faculty: Some teachers are helpful. The curriculum is relevant to an extent. Semester exams are not that difficult. A week of study is sufficient. The pass percentage is about 85-90%. College is supportive and does not let students fail. We also have re-exams conducted several times.

Other: I got into this college through JEE. For improvement, they should involve more project-based learning. There are a lot of fests and events.

Good academics, coding culture, and placement opportunities at COEP.

Placements: The previous CSE batch achieved around 92% placements. The highest package is around 52 LPA, and the average package is 17 LPA. Major recruiters include Accenture, D. E. Shaw, Wells Fargo, Citi, Mastercard, Bosch, etc. University also receives 365+ internship offers. This is a rough figure as I'm not completely sure about it. But the majority of my seniors secure internships and full-time roles.

Infrastructure: The CSE department has good computer labs, Wi-Fi, smart classrooms, and a library with books specifically related to academics. Hostel facilities are decent. The mess food is okay, and there are canteens too. Medical facilities are available on campus. There are good grounds and courts for sports and other activities.

Faculty: Most teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They explain concepts well enough. I won't say they are at the IIT level, not to compare, but they are decent enough. The curriculum till now is not department-specific, as it involves many other engineering subjects unrelated to CSE. However, from the 3rd year onward, the subjects become highly relevant and depth-specific. I'd rate the difficulty of the college exams around 6 to 7 out of 10. I'm not sure about the passing percentage. The college does not officially mention it. But I think you should secure at least 40 marks out of 100 to pass.

Other: I've been interested in computers ever since I was a child, but honestly, the main reason is the good placement rate of COEP. During internships and placements, the majority of companies' eligibility criteria involve CSE students, so that's one advantage we have. Besides placements, I wish the learning experience were better. It's not that it's bad, but I don't feel as curious during lectures as I do when I'm learning something on my own through YouTube. Events, fests, campus life, networking, and extracurricular activities are the areas in which our college is considered to be number one.

My point of view about the campus.

Placements: The average placement rate is around 84% of my branch of my college. Also, my branch’s average package is 10 to 12 LPA whole the most recent and the highest being 52 LPA. Our top recruiting companies are De Shaw and Oracle. According to seniors, 375+ internship offers were made in recent years.

Infrastructure: Facilities are really amazing, Wi-Fi strength is great classrooms are neat and clean. The library is really well established, and the environment motivates us to study. The hostel is decent, and the mess food is also good. Hostel have it's own laundry service, which helps students a lot. Amazing facilities.

Faculty: Faculty members are really supportive and help when students reach out. The course curriculum is amazing, and I get to do fun stuff alongside my degree. The course curriculum is flexible and really helpful for industrial challenges for students. Not only that, but all the extra sessions held also help students a lot.

The average package is good, with some students receiving high packages. Common roles include Software Engineers, Analysts, and core engineering positions.

Infrastructure: For my branch, its a one of the oldest and core branches of the college and has old and new labs. They also have some new subjects for the core. Hostel have all facilities like a mess and laundry. In the hostel area, there is a cafe. The hostel is near the college. The infrastructure for the course and hostel (CoEP) has excellent infrastructure with the best labs. Recently new computer department building has been opened in CoEP.

Faculty: CoEP faculty are experienced and supportive. Curriculum is relevant and well-structured. Exams are moderately difficult and concept-based. The pass percentile is depends on overall students. First of all, they take the average marks of all, the lowest, and the highest, and then they take the passing marks.

Other: CoEP has a strong academic reputation, good placement, an active student club, and a competitive learning environment with great peer exposure.

COEP vs VIT Pune for Civil Engineering: which one should I pick?

COEP is cheaper with tuition fees of INR 1.1 Lacs - INR 5.03 lakh, and has a stronger name and alumni network. VIT Pune has higher fees of INR 7 Lacs but a lower cutoff. If you can get COEP, most students take it. If not, VIT is a safe private choice.
