The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has authorised the course as a full-time, one year and six month diploma programme. The programme offers 24 weeks of practical instruction in a reputable hotel or bakery. IHM Chennai also provides other programmes including a 1-1/2 year diploma study in Bakery & Confectionary and a Craft course in Food Production in addition to the Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery.
The mess food is considered to be the best, where they serve variety of dishes both in veg and non-veg . Every students are served with their afternoon meal no matter whether they are a day scholar or hosteller. The food quality served in the mess is likewise excellent.
