Review of IIT Dhanbad - Indian Institute of Technology (ISM).

Placements: The placement session starts in December. Some core companies have come to campus, but mostly they were IT companies. M.Tech Thermal is also eligible in core IT companies for placements, but you must have sound knowledge of computer languages. Top recruiting companies this year are Vedanta, Phone Pe, and Adobe. Every year 20 to 40% of the students get placed from college.

Infrastructure: The library is one of the best for any student and is fully air-conditioned, and Wi-Fi enabled. Classrooms are also well maintained with projectors and digital tech. Labs are also good, and some of the machinery is not in working condition as they are very old, but overall labs are in good working condition. Canteen and medical facility is also good and provided on the campus near to hostels.

Faculty: All the teachers in our college are good, helpful, and qualified in their respective fields. Most of them are research paper holders and have very good knowledge. The teaching quality is good, and they take full classes and extra classes too to complete the syllabus if required. The course curriculum is well structured and very relevant.

Other: Events held in IIT Dhanbad are huge. Extracurricular activities are like swimming club, gymkhana, and many more clubs.

For Sponsored Candidates: 1. A candidate working in an academic institution/PSU/Govt. R&D organizations/Govt. recognized private R&D organizations /industry is considered as a sponsored candidate. Such a candidate must be sponsored by his/her employer and must have been in employment with the sponsoring organization for at least 2 years at the time of admission. 2. For sponsored candidates having a Bachelors's degree from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) having a CGPA of 8.0 or above, the requirement of GATE/NET is waived off. A candidate is required to submit a medical certificate signed by the chief medical officer (CMO) or the equivalent of a government hospital.
