Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mine), Dhanbad detailed review.
Placements: Civil Engineering placement states a placement percentage of 5 percent. The highest package is 36.5 LPA, the lowest package is 6 LPA, and the average package is 12.69 LPA. Top recruiters are Amazon, LnT, Nokia, Micron, Wipro Ltd, LTI-Mindtree, Tata Consultancy Services, Atkins, Alis, Mecon, JSW Energy, Greenko Group, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, BPCL, and AFRY India Pvt Ltd.
Infrastructure: The hostel is decent and accommodates two people in one room. Mess facilities are brilliant, providing tasty and healthy food, including breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner. Options for vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and Jain foods and special arrangements are made during fasting like Navratri, Savan, and Ramzaan month. Lecture hall complex and library are modern and well-equipped with ACs, Wi-Fi, and other facilities. Labs too have all the machines and instruments required.
Faculty: Teachers are very well educated. Most of them are quite helpful too. Course curriculum is very relevant, follows NEP. Multiple industry-relevant tools are in the curriculum, including MATLAB, STAAD, AutoCAD, etc. Semester exams are moderately difficult, sometimes hard. Around 90 percent of students clear without any backlogs.
Other: I chose this course as I'm targeting government jobs. The best thing is the specialisation the course offers and real-world problems you can solve. More interdisciplinary electives in economics, finance, or tech should be added to the course structure. There are two major fests in college, Tech Fest named Concetto, and cultural fest Srijan. The environment is electric on those fest days. The campus crowd is nice, good senior-junior bonding in college. Connectivity is decent, Dhanbad Railway station nearby, with trains to all major places across India. The closest Airports are Durgapur, Ranchi and Kolkata. Multiple scholarships in colleges from alumni, for economically deprived students, Ismaana, MCM, etc. Good extracurricular activities, two new grounds with all facilities are being constructed.

Overview of Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad.
Placements: 100% placements, great pre-placement offers, and internship opportunities. The lowest package is 25 LPA, the highest is 1. 28 CPA, and the average is 36–40 LPA. Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Warner Bros., etc. are among the top recruiting companies. 95% of students from my course get internships, with great support from the Campus Career Development Centre in this regard. The top role is Software Development Engineer.
Infrastructure: The college has good and high-speed Wi-Fi, with individual login credentials to access the internet connection. There are big lecture galleries. The library contains two floors of reading halls and three floors of book collections. For sports, there are huge grounds, around 5 to 6, and the cricket and football stadium is under construction.
Faculty: Most faculty members are Ph.D. holders. They are well experienced in the IIT system. They regularly give quality lectures. The curriculum is highly relevant to the modern era. It surely makes students more than industry-ready. To maintain standards, the exams are pretty tough, but most students make it through.

College is good if you can compromise with campus and college life.
Placements: Placement offers are solid, with strong industry trust. Top MNCs like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Atlassian visit regularly. The average package stays high at 20–25 LPA, with a great coding culture and strong alumni support. However, high batch sizes make top-tier roles competitive. Internships are also pretty good.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is poor. There is also a lot of corruption. Hostel rooms are small, computers are not good, and all the machines are old. There is no sports infrastructure at all. The grounds are under construction, and no facility is provided unless you play for the team. Fests are also not good.
Faculty: The course is good, at least the core courses of the branch, although there are a few useless courses. Faculty members, I would say some are really good, but some are egoistic and useless. Some just expect students to memorize everything and want us to do the same. They don't award marks if you don't follow their method.

Good and enjoyable life on campus, along with our hard work.
Placements: Last year, more than 85 percent of our seniors in Computer Science placed. The highest package is 85 LPA and 25 LPA is the average package. Recruiting companies are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, and Walmart. 46 students have internships at Google, Amazon, Walmart, and Cisco. Roles offered are web and app developer, data analyst, scientist, and product engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure on our campus is quite good. The classrooms are big enough to fit up to 150 students and have 5-6 central ACs. They have good labs for every single department. Wi-Fi is available anywhere on campus, but it is not good at the outskirts of campus. Coming to the library, we have a vast collection of books, from academics to comics, history, geography, and weekly magazines. Food is good. We have grounds for almost every sport. We have a medical center with proper dedication, we also have Domino's and KFC.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and good at explaining concepts and are available in their departmental cabins most of the time if we have any doubts. They have good experience. Our course curriculum is good, and it keeps updating according to conceptual understanding and industrial requirements. But more than going with the curriculum, we have to do hard work in other skills also, our curriculum can't teach all skills. Our minds are medium, it's just based on concept and application. Our end-semester exam is lengthy and with applications. Our pass percentage is nearly 30 percent, it's not fixed because we have relatively lenient grading.
Other: My course has good placements and more requirements in the market nowadays. The best things are good respect on our campus. Good academics, placements, and nd internships. Exams in our course have to improve a bit, which means a time constraint problem. Every semester we have more than 2 fests and events. We have sports events also, along with a big cultural fest. We have a very large crowd, experience in singing in large crowds at a time in EDM nights.

It is a great platform for learning.
Placements: For the current CSE'26 batch, 141 students are already placed (as of December 23 2025) with a highest package of 70 LPA. The average package offered is 31.79 LPA, and the lowest package offered is 27 LPA. As of 4th August 2025, 56 students got internships with the highest stipend of 15.13 LPA, and the average stipend offered is 15.6 LPA. The lowest stipend offered is 24 LPA. The top recruiters for our course include SRI, BEL, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Walmart, C-DOT, etc. Google leads with 12 internship offers. Major roles offered are SDE, SWE, etc.
Infrastructure: There is a separate building for the CSE department, which contains classrooms, seminar halls, computer labs, professor cabins, a recreation area, etc. Other than these, there are other departmental buildings, the NLHC (majorly for first-year common courses), and the NAC (New Academic Complex). We have one of the largest digital libraries in Asia. All rooms are connected with centralised AC, and water and sanitation facilities are available everywhere. The campus Wi-Fi covers all corners of the campus, with the highest speed in the library. Hostel rooms are good, and lots of sports facilities are present. We have 2 canteens functioning till 3 AM.
Faculty: Teachers here are highly qualified and professional. We are provided class notes along with assignments and tutorials. Along with these, we have well-equipped labs for the required courses. What I feel is that the common courses in the first year may not be relevant for all students, still, that is through the lens of a first-year undergraduate. The course curriculum is highly relevant and makes us industry-ready. The difficulty level of semester exams basically depends on the course and professors. However, exams are not tough to pass, as per my understanding.
Other: I chose the CSE course as it is in high demand right now. The best thing about my course is the supplementary benefits given by the official clubs of the CSE department, such as WebCSE, CSAI, and CodeISM, which are run by seniors. Quite good guidance is given to aspiring juniors, making them job-ready. I just had the issue of common courses, and the rest of everything is fine. A lot of events and fests are regularly conducted throughout the academic session. The campus crowd is supportive, and extracurricular activities are given high priority here due to the good culture of college clubs.

Honest review of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Placements: Around 85 to 90 percent of students get placed almost every year. The highest package is 59 LPA, and the average is 24 LPA. Recruiting companies include Google, Zomato, and Blinkit. 50 out of 140 students got internships last year at companies such as Cisco, Google, and Microsoft. Roles offered include web developer, data scientist, app developer, software engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: Campus Wi‑Fi is available free of cost and for unlimited use. Labs are equipped with computers, although some systems are old. Classrooms are air-conditioned and very spacious. The best thing about our college is its 7‑storey library containing thousands of books, with ample sitting areas and a cafeteria. Hostels are small. The mess/food is the greatest downside. Currently, our sports grounds are under renovation, so sports aren’t active lately.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, with all being Ph.D. holders. Some have advanced qualifications. Teaching quality is satisfactory. The course curriculum makes students industry‑ready. Semester exams are not very difficult, and most students get around 95%.
Other: I chose this course because it is Computer Science from an IIT, which is the best thing about it. I think they could reduce some theory classes and replace them with practical or lab classes. There are three major events/fests organised at our IIT, not including sports fests and sports meets.
