IIT Gandhinagar admission process is carried out on national level through entrance exams and counselling. Only a few IIT Gandhinagar courses such as PhD and PG Diploma have admission conducted on institute level. Admissions to all courses is entrance based with accepted entrance exams including JEE Main, JEE Advanced and GATE.

STEP 1: Registration for Entrance Exam
Candidates are required to appear in their respective accepted entrance exams for IIT Gandhinagar admission. All entrance exams except for IITGN written test are national level entrance exams which have a separate portal. Registration can be done by going on the portal and filling the registration form. For IITGN written test, candidates need to go to the institute's website and apply for their chosen course. Below mentioned steps show how to apply for these IIT Gandhinagar courses:

STEP 2: Entrance Exam and Counselling
Following registration, candidates will be issued admit cards for appearing in their respective exams. After these exams are over, result declaration is done along with counselling schedule. For JEE Main and JEE Advanced candidates, JoSAA counselling is conducted once results are out. Candidates can register for counselling after receiving their results.
During counselling rounds, candidates are alloted seats according to their choices regarding institute and course. Allotment is done based on entrance exam and last qualifying exam scores obtained by candidates. If a candidate is alloted IIT Gandhinagar during counselling, they will be required to pay admission fees to confirm their seat. Allotment letter is issued afterwards.

STEP 3: Confirmation of Admission

Yes, non-GATE candidates must appear for the institute level entrance test. However, all candidates are required to appear for the PI round for final selection. In addition to this, BTech graduates from the IITs with CGPA/ CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to get admission to M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar without GATE. IIT Gandhinagar Scholarships
IIT Gandhinagar scholarships are comprised of donor scholarship schemes, institute level scholarship schemes and two financial aid schemes. There are a total of 83 donor scholarship schemes which offer between INR 20,000 to INR 2 lakhs to eligible students. At institute level there are five scholarship schemes that offer INR 20,000 to selected students. However, one of these schemes offer a pocket allowance and free basic meals.
