IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2024: Eligibility, Fee and Selection
Offered across 15 specialisations, admission to IIT Kanpur is subject to a valid score obtained by the students in the GATE exam. Check out the eligibility and selection criteria for this below:
- Total tuition fee: INR 20,000 - INR 77,000
- Seat intake: 736*
- Eligibility: A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year course) or a master's degree in Science with marks not below the specified minimum. A relaxation of 5% aggregate or 0.5 CPI is offered to SC/ST/PwD category candidates on the minimum eligibility score.
- Selection: A valid GATE score is required for admission to the MTech programme in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with a BTech/BS (4-year) degree from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in BTech/BS (4-year).
- Admission Process: Admission offers for GATE-qualified candidates are displayed on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Students must register at the COAP portal to view and accept their offers. Registration on the COAP portal is free.

- After the application process is over; students have to go through various selection rounds for final admission. The institute considers the merit of the candidates for MBA and PhD admission.
- For BTech, MDes, MSc, BSc and MTech courses, JEE Advanced, IIT JAM CEED and GATE scores are considered for the selection of candidates.
- Additionally, admission to PhD and MS by Research is based on UGC NET/ CSIR NET and other national-level exam scores.
- After the exams, JoSAA, COAP and CCMN Counselling are conducted for seat allotment to BTech, M.Tech and MSc courses. However, a merit list is released by the institute for announcing the names of the candidates shortlisted for certificate, PhD and MS by Research courses followed by a counselling round. Candidates need to pay the admission fee to confirm their admission.
As per the details collated from various sources on the internet, a student must have a GATE rank up to 200 or below for admission to M.Tech at IIT Kanpur. While there is no minimum GATE score for IIT admission, the minimum rank/ score requirement depends completely on the individual institutes participating in the admission process. However, keeping the past cut off trends in mind, candidates must score a GATE rank of up to or below 200 and their minimum GATE score must be between 400-800. No, there is no interview round for M.Tech admission at IIT Kanpur. Admission offers for GATE-qualified candidates are displayed on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). The application fee for GATE is non-refundable & non-transferable.
1: Reach the site of GATE & register.
2: Fill the application form with relevant personal, educational, & other details in the empty fields.
3: Upload the required docs in the right size & format.
4: Pay the GATE application fee through a convenient online payment mode.
5: Accept the declaration & click on the 'Submit' button to complete the application process.

The list of docs to be submitted at the time of GATE application for MTech is given below:
- Image of student's signature
- Passport-size photo with white background
- Scanned copy of Category certificate (for SC/ST) in pdf format
- Scanned copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format
- Scanned copy of Certificate of Dyslexia (if applicable) in pdf format
- Scanned copy of a valid photo Identity proof such as Aadhaar-UID (preferable)/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter's ID/ Driving License (students must carry the same ID (in original) to the examination hall)
Followed by the GATE test, students are required to register on the COAP portal, on which the list of GATE-qualified students is released. Once the GATE process is complete, students are also required to register on IIT Kanpur website.
On the official website of IIT Kanpur, MTech application fee is 500 for General, EWS, OBC & OBC-NCL students & 250 for SC/ST & all DAP students. The application fee is waived for students in the 'Foreign National' category.

At Lovely Professional University, admission to B.Tech Electrical Engineering is not based on a fixed rank cutoff like many government colleges. LPU mainly considers your performance in LPUNEST, JEE Main, or your 12th marks, along with eligibility criteria.
So if you are talking about a rank like 237

If you're not able to receive OTP while applying at IIT Kanpur, try resending or reloading the sent OTP. Wait for atleast 15-20 minutes or change the current netword settings. If this does not fix the problem of OTP not getting loaded, try using a different Email Id or phone no.
