- The GATE COAP 2026 seat allotment results for round 4 have been released for admission to the ME/MTech courses. Candidates can choose to accept & freeze, retain & wait, or reject & wait by Jun 3, 2026 (till 9 AM).
- The JEE Advanced 2026 result is out for admission to the BE/BTech course. Students can check the same by logging in to the official website. Additionally, counselling registrations are scheduled to begin on Jun 2, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 session 2 result has been announced on the official website for IIT Patna admission to the BTech, BArch and BPlan courses.

Candidates who wish to apply to the M.Tech programme must have a valid GATE score. Students are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE scores during COAP counselling. However, candidates who have completed their BTech from IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 and above can apply without GATE scores. These applications are reviewed by the respective department (s). Hence, the answer to this question is - yes, it is possible to get into IIT Patna without GATE for MTech.
In general, students admitted to the particular branch of the undergraduate BTech course must continue studying that branch till completion. However, in special cases the institute may permit a student admitted through JEE to change their branch of study after the first two semesters. Such changes are permitted only for students who have completed all the common credits required in the first two semesters of their studies, in their first attempt, without having had to pass any course requirement in the summer term examination.

NTA has released CUET admit card 2026 online at cuet.nta.nic.in. Candidates will be able to download their admit cards online at cuet.nta.nic.in. No, the GATE registrations for IIT Patna 2026 MSc admissions are no longer open. The GATE registrations were closed in the month of November 2025. The GATE is scheduled to take place in the month of February 2026. Candidates who failed to register for the GATE are required to wait for the GATE 2027
