IIT Roorkee PG Diploma Highlights 2025
Apart from the above-mentioned courses, IIT Roorkee offers a PG Diploma programme for sponsored candidates across three specialisations. The duration of the programme is one year. For IIT Roorkee admission to PG diploma courses, candidates need to appear for GATE, followed by COAP Counselling. Final seat allotment is done on the basis of GATE scores, choice filling, availability of seats, categories, and other factors. The eligibility and more details of the course is given below:

The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) at IIT Roorkee other than General category are - 5783 for OBC, 3162 for SC, 1382 for ST, 2804 for EWS. Yes, for candidates belonging to the OBC category, admission is possible to a few courses at IIT Roorkee with a JEE Advanced cutoff rank of 4000 in the first round. The cutoff ranks vary by rounds, courses and categories. For the OBC category, courses available with a cutoff rank of 4000 are given below:

For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering was 5075 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in IIT Roorkee.

In the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, a student gets his/her tuition fee waived as per the following criteria.
Full Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to the most economically backward students having a family income of less than INR 1 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year.
2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to economically backward students having a family income in the range of INR 1 LPA to INR 5 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year
The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year.
IIT Roorkee admission to its flagship courses BArch and BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling. For admission, students are required to apply for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission to IIT Roorkee BTech. The aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in).
Followed by JEE Main, students are required to register for JEE Advanced. Next, candidates have to fill in the registration form, upload scanned certificates, and pay the application fee. The photo and signature in the online JEE Advanced application form will already be populated from the JEE Main application form.

IIT Roorkee has recently introduced two new postgraduate programmes (PGP), namely- Masters in Design (Industrial Design) and Masters in Innovation Management (MIM).
Yes, IIT Roorkee offers an MBA programme under the department of Management. The eligibility criteria to get admission to IIT Roorkee MBA course are mentioned below:
Eligibility Criteria: Passed a graduation degree/ professional qualification in any stream from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates). Final year students* are also eligible to apply.
Students may get admission in IIT Roorkee with 80% in Class 12 as the minimum aggregate ranges between 50% to 75% in Class 12 boards. However, admissions to the programmes at IIT Roorkee are done on entrance basis. Hence, Class 12 marks are not enough. Students also need to have valid entrance test scores.
No, students do not have to apply separately at IIT Roorkee website after JoSAA counselling. This is because the institute follows a common admission process for its BTech course just like the other IITs. Shortlisted students who get a seat through the JoSAA counselling, simply need to report for document verification and pay the acceptance fees. All the details of the students will be forwarded to IIT Roorkee by JoSAA directly. Information about the orientation, fee payment, and hostel allocation will be mailed online.
