Apart from the above-mentioned courses, IIT Roorkee offers a PG Diploma programme for sponsored candidates across three specialisations. The duration of the programme is one year. For IIT Roorkee admission to PG diploma courses, candidates need to appear for GATE, followed by COAP Counselling. The library was established in 1848. The library is spread across an 85,000 sq. ft. area. It is a four-storeyed building. IIT Roorkee library has a rich collection of more than 3,20,000 documents, CD-ROMs, Online databases, audio-video material, standards, specifications, theses, reports etc. It also has access to more than 8000 electronic journals.
At IIT Roorkee, students are selected on an entrance basis. Students have to go through the selection rounds including entrance tests + counselling to get admission. The selection process for BTech is as below:

In the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, BTech student gets his/her tuition fee waived as per the following criteria.
Full Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to the most economically backward students having a family income of less than INR 1 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year.
2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to economically backward students having a family income in the range of INR 1 LPA to INR 5 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year
The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year.
Yes, students can get admission in IIT Roorkee without JEE scores. But, this is possible for non-BTech courses, such as MSc, MBA, M.Arch, BArch, etc. If students are seeking BTech admission, then JEE scores are mandatory.
IIT Roorkee B.Des cutoff 2026 has been released for multiple rounds and categories. For the General AI category students, the maximum rank required in UCEED was 90 for admission to the B.Des course. To check out the category-wise break-up, refer to the table below:

Commonly asked questions On PG Diploma Fees
No, students do not have to apply separately at IIT Roorkee website after JoSAA counselling. This is because the institute follows a common admission process for its BTech course just like the other IITs. Shortlisted students who get a seat through the JoSAA counselling, simply need to report for document verification and pay the acceptance fees. All the details of the students will be forwarded to IIT Roorkee by JoSAA directly. Information about the orientation, fee payment, and hostel allocation will be mailed online.
IIT Roorkee admission to its flagship courses BArch and BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling. For admission, students are required to apply for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission to IIT Roorkee BTech. The aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in).
Followed by JEE Main, students are required to register for JEE Advanced. Next, candidates have to fill in the registration form, upload scanned certificates, and pay the application fee. The photo and signature in the online JEE Advanced application form will already be populated from the JEE Main application form.

Yes, IIT Roorkee offers an MBA programme under the department of Management. The eligibility criteria to get admission to IIT Roorkee MBA course are mentioned below:
Eligibility Criteria: Passed a graduation degree/ professional qualification in any stream from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates). Final year students* are also eligible to apply.
Presently, IIT Roorkee offers more than 65 UG, PG and doctoral degree courses. It awards the degree of BTech, MTech, MSc, BArch, MBA, MSc, PhD along with a couple of integrated and dual degree courses in the fields of Engineering, Science, Architecture, Management and Social Sciences. IIT Roorkee has recently introduced two new postgraduate programmes (PGP), namely- Masters in Design (Industrial Design) and Masters in Innovation Management (MIM).
Students may get admission in IIT Roorkee with 80% in Class 12 as the minimum aggregate ranges between 50% to 75% in Class 12 boards. However, admissions to the programmes at IIT Roorkee are done on entrance basis. Hence, Class 12 marks are not enough. Students also need to have valid entrance test scores.
