IIT Ropar Admission Process 2025
IIT Ropar's admission process includes the application process, selection round, cutoff, merit list, and counseling. The step-wise admission process is given below:
Step 1: IIT Ropar Application Process
Candidates seeking admission at IIT Ropar are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. For example, for BTech, candidates are required to apply for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced application. Similarly, for the MSc, IIT JAM application form is required to be completed.
Step 2: Selection Rounds
IIT Ropar admits students to BTech courses based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores. Candidates are allotted seats in JoSAA Counselling for BTech, BTech-MTech (Dual Degree), and BS courses. Admission to MTech is through GATE followed by COAP Counselling. The institute considers IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling for MSc courses. Candidates can check with the admission office for the selection rounds of the rest of the courses.
Step 3: Release of Cutoff list, Counselling & Admission Confirmation
The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. IIT Ropar will release the course-wise merit list for merit-based courses on its official website. As per the merit list, candidates are called for counselling for seat allotment. Shortlisted candidates must then pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

IIIT Allahabad accpets JEE Main score for admission to the BTech courses. As per the IIIT Allahabad cutoff 2023, the Last Round closing rank for BTech ranged between 5924 and 9558, among which Information Technology was the most competitive specialisation. The Round 1 closing rank for BTech ranged between 4817 and 8428 for BTech.
So, considering the previous year Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks, candidates seeking admission to IIIT Allahabad must secure a rank over and above 4800 and 9600 for the General ALL India category candidates.

The dates for JoSAA counselling 2026 choice filling will be announced once the result of JEE Main 2026 is declared. Candidates can fill choices only during the choice filling period. Also, candidates need to lock their choices before the last date.
Every year, NTA conducts the JEE Main entrance exam for the selection of eligible candidates in IIT, NIT and IIITs. The admission process for JEE Main 2026 (session 1) registrations has been completed. JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam will be held from January 21 to 30, and session 2 will be held from April 2 to 9. The total tuition fee of the MTech programme at IIT Ropar is INR 27,100. This fee only consists of the total fee of tuition for the two-year MTech programme offered at IIT Ropar. In order to apply for BTech IIT Ropar, students are required to apply via JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced application. The application process for JEE Main 2025 consists of three steps, i.e., registration, form filling & document uploading, followed by payment of application fees.
- Visit the official website of IIT Ropar (https://www.iitrpr.ac.in/). On its homepage, click on the ‘Admission’ tab and choose ‘PG’ from the drop-down menu.
- Click on ‘Application Procedure’ to proceed further. The online application portal opens up. The admission brochure and course structure PDFs can be downloaded from this page.
- Click on ‘New User Register Here'. Fill the registration form with all the details, including name, email ID, contact number, course preference, etc. Also, create an alpha-numeric password for future logins.
- Further, fill in the remaining application form by addressing other details, including guardian info, address of communication, etc. Also, upload a passport-size photograph and signature at this step.
- Pay an application fee in the online mode through SBI payment gateway using a debit card/ credit card/ net banking.
- Proceed with the second-last step of the application form by filling in the entrance exam, work experience (if any), reference & publications (for PhD applicants), and academic details.
- Conclude the application process by approving the self-declaration and hitting the ‘Submit’ button. Candidates can also download and print the application form for future reference.

Those candidates who are aiming for admission to ECE at IIT Ropar cannot avail this course as it was not offered in 2024. However, under the acquired rank of 7000, candidates can opt for Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Physics, and Chemical Engineering programs. Further, as per the IIT Ropar cutoff 2024 for JEE Advanced, the cutoff rank for aforementioned courses for the General AI category candidates stood at 8836, 10097, and 11365, respectively.
Under the acquired rank of 12000, candidates cannot get admission for OBC Female category. First of all, IIT Ropar do not release its cutoffs based on Gender and State-level quota. Considering the IIT Ropar cutoff 2024 for JEE Advanced, the required rank should be under 1084 and 4968 for the OBC AI quota. So, 12000 is not enough rank to secure a seat at IIT Ropar.
IIT Ropar offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses to students. At the undergraduate level, the Indian Institute of Technology–Ropar offers four to five-year BTech in nine specialisations. In addition to this, it also offers an integrated BTech programme. At the postgraduate level, Ropar IIT offers two to five-year M.Tech in different specialisations and a two-year MSc in various specialisations. The IIT Ropar also offers PhD courses to students.
