The selection to the course is done on the basis of how the candidates perform for the entrance exam set by the college. JIPMER college offers M.Sc in Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences. The course work for M.Sc. is divided into 4 semesters, lasting for 2 years. The college provides students with practical training as well as theoretical studies.
JIPMER college offers a total of 25 seats for the M.Sc. program.
The courses offered are in two specializations with 10 different disciplines.
The two course specializations offered are: Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences.
M.Sc. Nursing disciplines are: Community Health Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing. M.Sc. Allied Medical Sciences disciplines are Medical Biochemistry, MLT- Microbiology, MLT-Pathology, Medical Physiology, and Biostatistics.
The basic eligibility to the course is for candidates to have passed their undergraduate in B.Sc. with a minimum requirement. Admissions to the M.Sc the course at JIPMER college is done online through the college admission portal which is available on the official website.

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research accepts valid INI CET scores, followed by a counselling process for admission to MD, MS, MCh, and MDS courses. The INI CET 2025 cutoff for the January session has been released for Round 1, wherein the closing ranks ranged between 424 and 1055 for the students belonging to the unreserved category. There is no specified lower range for minimum marks required for admission at JIPMER, Pondicherry. The cutoffs are subjective to change every year. However, as per JIPMER eligibility criteria 2024, students from general category and EWS are required to secure at least 50% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) are required to score 40% marks. The admission also includes evaluation of the marks secured in any entrance test.
The seat allocation for MBBS candidates at JIPMER Puducherry is based on the NEET-UG scores and counselling. Additionally, it is also subject to seat reservation as per the guidelines of the Government of India. Some of the seats ae reserved for the residents of Puducherry as well. At the Pondicherry campus, there are a total of 200 seats for MBBS course. This seat count is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

INI CET 2025 counselling July session dates and schedule were announced by AIIMS. The counselling began with mock round on June 14, 2025. Seat allotment result for mock round counselling INI CET 2025 July session was announced on June 18, 2025. Round-1 Seat allotment result was declared on June 25, 2025. Round-2 result was uploaded on July 10, 2025. The counselling is held online for seat allotment. Only INI CET qualified candidates can participate in the counselling for seat allotment. A total of 4 rounds of counselling will be held.
The JIPMER criteria for MBBS are as follows:
- Class 12 from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks
- Atleast 17 years of age
NTA released the re-revised scorecard on July 26, 2024. In this scorecard, the score has been revised as per the Supreme Court verdict of removing the bonus marks awarded earlier for the controversial Physics question, and deducting one mark from those who marked incorrect answer options. The city and centre-wise result data such as number of candidates appeared and scores obtained, by masking candidates' personal data was released on July 21, as per the Supreme Court order given on the hearing dated July 18, 2024. The NEET 2024 result for the re-exam, which was conducted on June 23, was declared on July 1, day day after the slated date. The final answer keys for the NEET 2024 re-exam was released by June 30, ahead of the result declaration. Earlier, the result of NEET 2024 was declared by NTA on June 4, 2024, 10 days ahead of the original schedule, which was June 14, 2024. NTA released the final NEET answer keys on June 4, prior to the release of the NEET result 2024. The NEET result was declared in an online mode. Candidates have to log in with their registration credentials or application number and date of birth, and download their scorecard in PDF format. NTA also released the merit list containing the name, Roll Number, All India Rank and Percentile of the candidates. Along with the NEET 2024 scorecard, NTA also released the NEET 2024 cutoff marks or the qualifying marks/scores.

JIPMER course fee is a cumulative of tuition fee, hostel fee, security deposit, etc. The fee for the three-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme at JIPMER is INR 46,580. Candidates need to pay admission fee amount or the first-semester fee to confirm their enrollment.
