B.Tech. in Biomedical Engineering - Batch of 2028
4.8
Absolutely satisfied because of the good infrastructure and technology.
Placements: About 50 out of 80 students in total sit for placements, and around 67% of them are now placed in various companies. The median salary is around 7 LPA. The lowest package offered is 6 LPA, and many others are going for higher studies with recommendations from the college.
Infrastructure: The college hostel and infrastructure, like the food courts, football ground, and cricket grounds, are very nice and comfortable. There is a huge library open from morning till night at 11:30, along with group study halls. The campus also has a place called Student Plaza for socializing.
Faculty: Exams are all conducted on an E-pad (like an iPad) to be more environmentally friendly, and exams are pretty competitive. All teachers have a Ph.D. and are well-trained. Exams are moderate to hard in terms of difficulty. Lab exams are also important.
Other: The campus is very student-friendly with diverse student backgrounds.

Don't get into it if you have no idea what it is.
Placements: Around 40% got placed. Most of us wanted to go for higher education since it's hard to get a core biomedical job with only a degree. Salary packages for biomedical jobs ranged from 5 LPA to 10 LPA. Companies like Baxter, Philips, Translumina Therapeutics, Medtronic, etc., visit our college for recruitment. Everyone has done multiple internships throughout the course.
Infrastructure: Manipal, being a premier institute, has a good campus. The classrooms are huge enough to accommodate everyone. The facilities are good. It did not have a projector or computer in the classroom. Also, they could record lectures for later reference, which is now being done on different campuses. The hostel is great but doesn't have the capacity to accommodate everyone. They expect half the students to leave the hostel after the first year. Hostel facilities are really great, except for a few old blocks. The biomedical labs at MIT are mediocre. We have labs at KMC Manipal that are top-notch. The library is great. The infrastructure of the entire campus is good. The quality of the food in the mess wasn't good at all. There were facilities for all kinds of sports and games.
Faculty: Some teachers are really passionate about the subject and could keep the attention of the class. But most of them really couldn't teach. There were a few who hated us for being there. Teachers who never left college after graduation and decided to make a career as a professor don't deserve to lecture students on the outside world and how to face industries. Also, having a Ph.D. doesn't necessarily mean they have to teach. They need to do their research. The course wasn't curriculum-relevant and barely taught us anything that could be put to use. The only little bit of programming that was taught was in Matlab. Exams are hard and very frequent, making the course hectic, especially for such multidisciplinary courses. You need 36% overall and a minimum of 18% on the external assessment to pass.
Other: I chose this course because I really didn't know what to do. I still remember the smirk on the guy's face during admission when I told him the branch I wanted. The best thing about this course is the networking opportunities with seniors who made good careers after getting their master's. I wish they would design the course to give us some actual skills that could be put to use. Events and extracurricular activities at MIT are top-notch.

It is a great place with a lot of greenery.
Placements: This year, placements for biomedical was decent. About 30-40% of the students are placed, and many went for higher studies abroad. Not a lot of core companies visit for biomedical, but they offer an average salary package of about 6-7 LPA. Students should maintain CGPA above 7 to get placed. An internship is mandatory, and one of my seniors did it in GE.
Infrastructure: Our college infrastructure is amazing and also has lush green surroundings. All classrooms are air-conditioned, and labs are also good. We have a separate building for our library and even for the auditorium. Wi-Fi is available in all over the campus. I stay in an apartment, so I am not sure about the hostel, but I have heard it is pretty good and the food is also decent. We have 24x7 ambulance and medical facilities. We also have the biggest sports centre in India.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and have at least masters or PhD. Most of them teach well, but there are always some exceptions in course. They teach just enough to instil our curiosity. We have to do a lot of self-study to pass our exams. The course curriculum is up to date, which makes us industry-ready.
Other: Our university has a lot of extracurricular activities and clubs like both technical and non-technical for us to join. Student crowd is great with a lot of smart people. We have many fests and activities conducting every year.

Manipal. The University for fun and studies.
Placements: Biomedical engineering is not a highly popular course in India. But it is very useful abroad like in Poland and all. Our college has ties with companies in Poland and hence many of us can do internship there. Not too many placements in biomedical, but overall more than 50% get placed and many go for higher studies. The packages are from 4 LPA to 15 LPA for biomedical.
Infrastructure: Our campus is very huge and has a lot of trees in it. We have a lot of food courts, canteens and shops in campus. Wi-Fi is available throughout campus. All our classrooms have AC and labs are well-equipped. We have a separate building for our library ( yes it's that big). Hostel is good. But more on the expensive side. Food is decent. We have an ambulance on standby all the time so medical facility is good. We also have India's the largest sports building called Marina.
Faculty: Our teachers are very knowledgeable and most of them teach very well too. They use PowerPoint for presentations mostly. Our curriculum is very up to date and very hard. It is kind of interdisciplinary with electrical and biological sciences. It definitely makes us industry ready.
Other: The crowd is very good. Very smart people. We have a lot of extra curricular activities and fests every year.

Awesome life experience, amazing infrastructure, campus life, good placement and decent faculty.
Placements: Placements were good. Like almost 70% students got placed and rest were aiming for higher studies. The highest salary was 18l. P. a and the lowest was 3.2l. P. a. The few companies who visited were :- 1. Delloite 2. Mu sigma 3. Microsoft 4. Cisco 5. KPMG 6. Think and Learn Byjus's 7. Futures First 8. Accenture 9. Novartis 10. Simens 11. Wipro 12. TCS MANY OTHER. ROLES:- Business development associate, software engineer, data analyst. Internship:- like generally people started their 8th semester as their internship in some company so like around 70-80%. I am not that sure about stipend. Placement cell is very active.
Infrastructure: Facilities in manipal are incomparable to any other private institute. Be that academics, labs, libraries, hostels or mess food. It was just perfect. Quality of food is amazing. There is variety in the food and they make sure everything is hygienic. There are lot of sports club and gyms around the campus. Students can avail the service at a veey nominal membership price. The classrooms are well-equipped with projector, changing ports, good desk and comfortable chair. Libraries are built in a way that there are group study halls as well as silence room and borrowing of books is allowed with flexible timing.
Faculty: Teachers were very good and qualified but I think it would be even better if Ph.D. is made Mandatory qualification for all the individual to become a professor. Teaching quality was good but of course there were few professor who just come and read the slides and can't explain much in it. Student to faculty ratio was decent. I can't really give exact figure. In my domian we didn't get industry exposure but yes in chemical and mechanical and civil engineering, the students use to go for study visits.
Other: There were two events of MIT every year. 1 was cultural event called REVELS and other was technical event called Techtatva. It was a good opportunity for the students to improve their skills in management by managing the event and hosting it as well as improving skills by participating in various events both in cultural and technical. Apart from these two, there are other small events which keep taking place round the year like PAPER PRESENTATION, TECH TALKS, SEMINARS, INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES, etc.

Student friendly campus. Overall development of student. It's a reputed college.
Placements: It has gottten good placement record. Many tire 1 companies take suitable candidates. Many core companies. Senior batch placement had almost 100%placement. This year it has maintained it's consistency. Companies like Cisco, Deloitte, Microsoft, IBM, Accenture, byjus, Goldman Sachs, Bosch, L&T, Emphasis, philips, Samsung, SanDisk, many were offered internship for the final semester itself. Students will be having the opportunity to work with desired company as a intern in the final semester instead of doing it in the college. There is a placement cell which will be constantly taking care of students considering their choices also mentoring 24*7. The coordinators are very good. Students were offered rikes like sales executive, software developer, sales manager. Both UG and PG placements are good. Every year it attracts many global companies. The highest salary offered was 22lpa and minimum was 4lpa. Around 40% of the students got internship from the college.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are well designed for qualitative learning. The Wi-Fi access covers 600+acres campus with monthly 20GB free internet with a good speed. Labs has technologically updated equipments. Each student can work on their own. Near there is KMC with good doctors. Manipal is educational hub. It has central library, University library with e-books. For sports there is Marena sport complex with indoor gym, squash, badminton, football, jogging track, cricket, hockey. There are many playgrounds.
Faculty: College is blessed with qualified and active faculty. Take interest in students activities. Many professors with good experience under whom we can work on good projects which would boost the career. Classroom teaching with assignments, PowerPoint presentation. Yes I got Industry exposure in nearby places related to the branch. Faculty ratio is good that they can give appreciable amount of focus on each student.
Other: Two national level fests technical (tech-tatva)and cultural (revels). Many colleges across India participate in the best. AICTE scholarship and college scholarships are given based on the eligibility. There are numerous clubs with lots of happening.

The placements and the infrastructure of the college are awesome.
Placements: I cannot talk about the placements because I am in the second year, but placements are improving especially for my branch, and the faculty is very helpful. The best placements still good to CS people, and many companies like Medicine international, Philips come to my branch for recruitment.
Infrastructure: Manipal has one of the best infrastructures in the country. I think it puts many IITs, NITs, and many of its competitors to shame when it comes to the infrastructure. A world-class sports arena, grounds, classrooms, labs, and hostels are available in the college. If you can name it, Manipal the most probably has it.
Faculty: The faculty of the college is very good and is very interactive as long as you are active in the class. They are understanding, and encouraging expect when you don't have enough attendance. Manipal also offers almost all course under the sun hence there is a huge cultural exchange on the campus.
Other: Attendance is the key to survival, and be ready to sleepless as the semester can be short (sometimes) and can put immense pressure.

Good place for opportunities and a vibrant college life.
Placements: As biomedical engineering is fairly a new branch, my seniors complained of having too few companies come looking specifically for biomedical engineering students. However, because of the small batch sizes and the several clubs and organizations in the campus, the interaction between students and companies is increasing fast. There are several companies in and around Manipal with strong ties with the department and any student willing to do projects and internships with companies are helped by the teachers. I don't know the exact details of placements in previous years with regards to companies coming directly to the university, but the opportunity is plenty.
Infrastructure: Compared to other universities, the infrastructure of the college is great. Several international students are studying in the campus, and there is a strong pressure constantly for the better hostels, classrooms and labs. The libraries are beautiful and make you study. The sports and games building is also wonderful. My only issue is that the professors don't trust junior years with equipment. The best equipment is reserved for projects and senior students. Wi-Fi is available most of the time but slows down at peak times however the providers are student friendly and make it convenient to top up data usage when you have gone over the normal monthly limit (30GB).
Faculty: Some of the teachers are amazing and make the subject easy to understand and show you how to apply to the real world, and then several teachers cannot answer your doubts and make classes waste of time. Teachers are pretty traditional in terms of teaching methods, and mostly PPTs are used which makes the teacher redundant. In my branch the student-faculty ratio is 60:1 but some branches have up to 100:1 ratio. The curriculum is useful as it builds upon previously taught topics and focuses more on real-world applications. The labs give practical information on the topics taught in class which helps to get a better idea of the subject as a whole. Most teachers have been teaching for many years and don't bother much about the students. They only help you if you go to them directly with regards to the biomedical curriculum. There are several classes in the medical school next door making those subjects very interesting and hands on. The department tries to bring speakers and industry experts fairly frequently which is a plus point.
Other: The student life is pretty great. There are more than a hundred student clubs which are all constantly hosting events. There are famous DJs and singers constantly coming thanks to the university-sanctioned events. There are several benefits of the entire city being a university campus. All the shops and social amenities (restaurants, bars, theatres) are very student oriented. The party scenes of Manipal are nationally recognised.
