The MITID DAT 2026 written exam was conducted on April 5, 2026. The question paper inlcuded both subjective and objective questions. The written exam is the 1st stage of the entrance exam and is used to shortlist candidates for a Studio Test & Personal Interview. The final results of MITID DAT is prepared by considering the perfomance of the candidate in the written exam and the Studio Test & Personal Interview. Any candidate who fails to appear in the 2nd stage of the exam will not be included in the merit list.

MITID DAT exam is conducted in both online and offline modes. Phase 1 of MITID DAT is held in online mode as a computer-based test and Phase-2 of the exam is to be attempted on a sheet provided inside the exam hall.

DAT examination includes computer-based MCQ (objective) test, subjective test and offline drawing test. Objective and Descriptive Test is a Computer Based Test. Where in Objective Test candidates have to choose the correct option, in Descriptive Test they have to write the correct answer in the text box. Drawing Exam is an Offline Test. For this section candidates are provided A4 size drawing sheets to draw using Pens / Pencils / Colours etc. After the exam is over, the answer sheets are collected, scanned and uploaded for evaluation at the test centre.
MITID DAT 2026 eligibility criteria for B.Des and M.Des is given below.
For B.Des programme, candidates should have passed Class 12 from any stream and for MDes programme, candidates should hold an undergraduate degree.
Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for the programs they want admission. Note that any candidate who doesn't meet the eligibility criteria could be disqualified at any stage of the admission process.
The admission to design courses will be based on the final merit list which will be prepared by considering the peformance of the candidate in:
