The pros and cons of NIFT Chennai.
Placements: Placement is fairly good. Almost 90% in accessory design. It depends on the student's caliber and portfolio rather than grades. Some of the courses struggle in placements but a good portfolio really helps. Companies are not very high paying initially. Maximum average packages are around 4.5 to 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The building's structure is really beautiful, campus is small and cosy. The new girls' hostel is nice. The old hostel within the campus is pretty bad. Labs are nicely equipped. Hostel food is nutritional but tasteless. North Indians might not like the food. Nonveg is scarce. Washrooms are not very nicely maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are biased, there is a north India, south India stigma and partiality. Teachers are moody and judgemental. Innovations and ideas are not encouraged in front of aesthetics. It can be disappointing at times bit the college experience is great.
Other: Campus and students are really great and you wouldn't ever feel out of place. The vibe and environment is super which makes up for judgemental faculty members.

An outstanding campus architecture and exciting college crowd as well as diverse atmosphere.
Placements: The placements take place in the same venue, i.e., NIFT campus, where one can showcase their portfolios. The companies which normally come for placements include Flintobox, Titan, Reliance, etc. The average salary offered to the students was about Rs 30,000 per month.
Infrastructure: The NIFT, Chennai campus is one of the unique campuses in India. It is inspired by a Rubik's cube. The campus walls stand out of the concrete jungle surrounding, with its colourful outlay and angular architecture. Apart from that, the campus is equipped with Wi-Fi (free) as well as a resource centre with the latest fashion magazines, books and materials for studying. Although the labs aren't that equipped, as compared to other campuses the labs are workable. The classrooms have full CCTV cover and are clean and suitable for art and crafts. The college also has good computer labs as well as Mac labs. The hostel rooms are no less than a four-star hotel, clean with marble flooring, and two beds per room, with seven-storey two-building apartment like architecture.
Faculty: The faculty are professional in conduct. Weekly, classroom conduct meets take place, which helps to improve the course and staff approach as well. The course includes leather bags, jewellery, furniture as well as other material explorations and a craft cluster study. The resources have to be sourced from outside and are not provided by the college.
Other: The campus has two fests in main which is the fashion spectrum and an interdepartmental fest. The scholarship of 80% is for SC/ST students and also for certain students in need of financial help.

NIFT Chennai is the best and it will always be.
Placements: The placements were pretty good. Almost everyone from this year's senior batch got placed. The highest salary was 12 lakhs per annum. Companies which visited for placements are Titan Co. Ltd., TI Cycles, Myntra, Flipkart, Gitanjali, Amrapali, Landmark group, Tata, Samsung, Whirlpool, Hyundai, Godrej Interio, Hidesign, Myntra, Amazon, Swatch Watch, Caravan Craft, Pantaloons, JharCraft and RedTape Shoes.
Infrastructure: The whole campus is a Wi-Fi zone. There are many computer labs and one MAC lab. A sports ground is also available on the campus for volleyball. Labs and classrooms are well-equipped with world-class facilities on fashion designing. The canteen is nice but a north Indian will not get the taste as it tastes like south Indian food but the other cafeterias are pretty good. There are separate girls and boys hostels. The girls' hostel has AC which you may take.
Faculty: The faculty members are hard working they even work on Saturdays. They make us work on weekends too to get the full benefit of our course and also our money which we put in to get fashion education from the top fashion colleges of India. Mainly our course is process-based so we mainly play with fabric and some other materials from which we can make our products. We often visit the industry to see what latest designs are there, what are they up to and how to give a finishing like them.
