NIT Goa Admission Overview 2026
NIT Goa admissions are entrance-based. Admission to its flagship BTech course is based on JEE Main scores followed by JoSAA Counselling. With large number of applicants applying for JEE Main and limited BTech seats, admission can be competitive. The closing JEE Main cutoff for a popular specialisation like CSE was 17448 in 2025.
NIT Goa also offers MTech and PhD programmes. Admission to MTech is based on GATE scores. The institute conducts a written test followed by PI round for admission to PhD.

Candidate who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, are also eligible to appear. There is no age limit for the candidates.
GATE CCMT R5 has been released for admission to the MTech courses. Candidates seeking admission to the NIT Goa MTech course must secure a rank between 476 and 476 for the General category students. Year-wise Round 5 cutoffs are given below for NIT Goa:

1- NIT Goa Application Process 2026
Candidates seeking admission at NIT Goa are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment. However, candidates seeking admission to PhD courses can visit the official website of NIT Goa and apply for the programme directly. Candidates without GATE scores need to fill out the institute form for MTech.
2- Selection Rounds
NIT Goa shortlists candidates based on valid scores obtained by them in the relevant entrance exams. For its flagship BTech course, NIT Goa admits students with a valid JEE Main score. NIT Goa offers a four-year full-time BTech course at the undergraduate level. NIT Goa BTech admission is completely entrance-based and depends on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam, followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. The JoSAA counselling begins in September. There will be 6 rounds of seat allotment.
JEE Main Round 6, has been released for admission to the BTech courses. As per NIT Goa JEE Main cutoff 2023, the Round 6 closing rank was 47155 for General category candidates in All India quota for Civil Engineering. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 54176 was the closing rank. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

Nothing happens, if you have some medical reasons then you can submit the Medical report. But then you have to score well in the semester examination so that you will get good marks and won't fail. If someone fails in end semester exams then they will have to reappear, next year. So try to give internal exams, and do not miss them as it helps to score and have a good aggregate of marks which will ultimately increase your CGPA. These internal exams, therefore, play an important role in securing admission.
NIT Goa BTech Admission 2026
NIT Goa offers BTech for four-years at the UG level in full-time mode. The course is divided into eight semesters. The institute offers BTech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to BTech is offered based on JEE Main scores followed by JoSAA Counselling. Aspirants with 75% in PCM in Class 12 can apply for BTech.
