B.E. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2017

The college treats students as school kids.
Placements: They made us placed at very low-rated companies to achieve a hundred percent placement. The top recruiting companies for my course are local engineering companies. About 20 percent of students got internships in various courses. The top Roles offered in your course are trainee only. I
Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms are adequate for our studies. Classrooms are enabled with projectors. Wi-Fi, Labs, Classrooms, and libraries are connected to the internet. The quality of the facilities in the hostel was nominal, the quality of food available in the mess and canteen was good, and medical facilities, sports, and games were adequate.
Faculty: Teachers are not so experienced. Most of them were freshers. The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality was okay. This course curriculum is relevant to our course. It makes the student's industry ready. The pass percentage was exceptional.
Other: I chose it because I finished my Diploma at PSG Polytechnic College.

Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology - SIET Coimbatore is a good college.
Placements: We don't know the exact data of placements. The highest salary package offered was below 5 LPA, but I'm not sure. Payoda and Tech Mahendra were some of the top companies that visited the campus for recruitment. There was no internship in the college. Roles offered were of executive or engineer. A lot of students got placed from college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was fine. The food served in the hostel was average. The canteen had only limited items. Even the sports activities were limited. Lab on the campus was poor. We haven't seen any medical kits. The library had only limited books, and no E-books were available during our course duration.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were mostly freshers. They did not have any prior work experience and had only limited exposure to national events. People from the industry were very less as faculty members. Even teachers left the institution in a short period of 6 months. New teachers join and leave college.

I am satisfied because the college is free with students, but they should give more work to students
Placements: Around 60% of students get placed in our college. Including pour course, the highest salary offered was Rs. 80,000 per month and the lowest salary offered was Rs. 15,000 per month. Infosys, Tata and Ashok Leyland visited our campus for recruitment. Designing and manager were the roles offered. Around 2% of students got an internship in Infosys, and 2% of students in Amazon.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi of 250 MB was provided for each student and staff members. There are two libraries on campus, one is for the subject books, and the other is for some articles, newspapers, etc. We also have a lab for research. Classrooms are with projector, and there is a separate notice board in every class. The mechanical lab has CNC, basic lathes and welding part.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are knowledgeable and qualified with a PhD. Most of them are experienced and good at teaching. The make a good environment in the classroom. The course curriculum doesn't make students ready for industry.
Other: I chose this course because my father is also in the same field so that I can take over his company. Even I like the mechanical course, and I am trying to go in designing department.

Dissatisfied with the placements.
Placements: Students mainly wish to get placed in core companies, but the management only invites marketing companies. If they try to call the core companies, their placement rate would be better. However, placements are poor now. Still, they need to improve the placement rate to help students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. Some areas like underground sewages burst out at times, and the students need to clutter out all the sewage properly. Cleaning the floor is done daily, so there is no problem with cleanliness here.
Faculty: Faculty members here are good and friendly. The difficulty what we face from the management was also faced by our faculty members. They help us to learn a lot to survive in this world. They teach all the concepts in the curriculum and help us become a good engineer.
Other: Government scholarships were offered based on the cut off mark. Our college also provides some scholarships. Our college organises the main event named Kalam, and it helps us learn a lot.

A college with good infrastructure and placement opportunities.
Placements: At SIET, the career development cell provides great guidance to a range of resources. In 2017, more than 400 students were placed. The highest package offered was 12 LPA. The average package offered was 5 LPA. The lowest package offered was 1.5 LPA. Core companies visit very less when compared to IT companies. Only 10% of core companies visit the campus every year.
Infrastructure: The college provides a Wi-Fi facility available at all labs. The classrooms are equipped with projectors to explain all demo videos about the subject. There are separate grounds for sports and games with specified coaches. Every year, we achieve overall zonal champions in athletics. The hostel provides separate beds and gives separate study tables to each person. The food served in the canteen is average.
Faculty: The basic qualification of teachers is ME, and all are freshers in teaching. Each department consists of very less number of experienced teachers, and the rest others are freshers. All provide good study material to prepare semester exams, and it was useful to clear the exam.
Other: Along with studies, many extracurricular are conducted every year. Events such as Tamil Mandram, dance crew, and Demass, etc., are organised.

Studied with high strictness, good placement records and give infrastructure.
Placements: Our college is one of the best colleges for placements in Coimbatore. Our college has provided 100% placement since the last 4 years. Last year, the highest salary ordered was 27 Lacs per annum and the lowest was within 2 - 3 Lacs per annum. Various companies like Rovio, Tovi, Go Green, Amazon, etc. Visited the campus.
Infrastructure: The college has a good infrastructure. It has a fully Wi-Fi enabled campus. The labs are good and most equipments work properly. The canteen provides various snacks and lunch for the students. Hostel rooms are sufficient for the students and neat. But the campus is small and a bit confusing.
Faculty: The teachers are fine. They possess adequate knowledge. The teaching quality is good. The basic teaching methods are used. Most of the teachers are very helpful to the students. The students also get fair amount of industry exposure. But the educational structure of the college is strict.

College with average infrastructure.
Placements: Placement in the academic year of 2015 to 2016 were average. Our seniors had a good placement season in the previous year. Placement of our batch were not so great. Mechanical engineering students were difficult to place, computer and IT students got placed in some good companies.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure was also not that great. But we had seperate playground, library and classrooms for every division. First aid was also provided in case of casualty. Parking facility was available only for teachers and not for students. It was overall okay.
Faculty: Faculty members were good. We had seperate teacher for seperate subject. Teacher go through various training sessions so that they become equipped to teach us. College curriculum was very lengthy and complex. We had maths almost 3 years in our engineering syllabus.

It is a good college, but the fee is high.
Placements: 25 companies visit the campus. 85% students were placed. 10 students were placed in HP company. 50% mechanical students were placed in Quadra Engineering Limited company. 25% of the students were placed in Tech Mahindra. Civil students were placed in many highway construction works.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available. Department wise, 3 classrooms are available for each department. The library is available. The cricket ground is available. Hostel rooms are superb. Wi-Fi is available for hostelers. Classrooms have projectors. Canteen food is Kerala style. Food quality is average. Non-vegetarian is available.
Faculty: There are 70 faculty members in my college. In the mechanical department, one lady faculty, 25 male faculty are present. HOD teaches one subject in all classes. Project class is taken by the director of the mechanical department. The director helps on how to do project easily. I found some extra knowledge in my college director.
Other: The scholarship is available for the students who have 80% marks in 12th standard. The cricket ground is available. Many students play cricket.
