Good experience in B.Sc. Stats hons. at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.
Placements: I don't think anyone got placed through the placement cell in our batch. Usually companies came to our college, and only those who signed up for placements would get to know. Big companies like Accenture did come. I feel that a lot of us went for higher studies as well as off-campus jobs, so that's it.
Infrastructure: The computer labs were top-notch. There was Wi-Fi in the campus and in the labs. The classroom was big and airy. We also had air conditioning. Overall, a great environment for studying. The quality of food in the hostel is great. There is also variety—sweets, pastries, junk, and healthy meals. The sports facility is great; there is also a dedicated basketball court as well as a football ground. The library is huge and has separate reading rooms.
Faculty: The teachers eagerly solve our doubts and resolve any questions we had. They were all qualified and knowledgeable. The curriculum is up to date. The R sessions really make us industry-ready since there is one in every subject. Exams are not very hard. Passing rate is 40%.
Other: Perfect blend of mathematics and data. The best thing is the way we are taught. If you are attentive, you don't need to go back and study everything again. Xavotsav is the biggest fest in town, and it's at Xavier's. The campus life is the best one can have with events throughout the year. There's also scholarship prize money for people who do well in academics.

I am satisfied with Statistics.
Placements: There were 70% of students who got placed in our course. Mostly, 90% of students from the second year and third year got internships in this course. Students got jobs in the field of data analytics, statistician, accounting, etc. The highest salary package obviously would be in LPA.
Infrastructure: We have classrooms for theory classes and do practical classes in computer labs in our college. There is a library that is also open for all SXC students and free Wi-Fi for the students only. The hostel rooms are very hygienic and serve food 5 times a day. Students can enter in college sports team or cultural team via audition.
Faculty: We have some amazing teachers in our course and they are very supportive and helpful. The curriculum of the course is well-updated. If anyone takes running notes in classes, it's enough to study. In our first semester exam, the pass percentage is 100%.
Other: I can do a data analysis course after this. I think learning coding might be better for this course. There are a lot of seminars going on every month. Every department has its own fest and by the month of January, the college arranges a huge fest Xavotstav. There are many societies students can enter by giving an audition. The college gives students scholarships if they can maintain their GPA is above 7.

I would recommend joining this college for this course. But for our batch i.e online not worth it.
Placements: It is a B.Sc honors course so almost every student will go for higher studies. There are no such placements for these types of courses. One may do internships on their own with some skills like python, C, R, as an aspiring data analyst. If anyone has some good skills, then they may get placed with an average salary. But I will strongly suggest going for higher studies will be the best option.
Faculty: Some teachers in our course are exceptional. Every teacher is very good with their qualification. But I should say in the online mode, students are missing to get the actual knowledge that they could get from those teachers in offline mode. The sad reality of online classes. All semester exams I had given are held online, and students did not get the idea of the exam hall feeling in Xaviers.
Other: I opted for this course, because of my interest in it. One of the most beautiful subjects. The most consistent college at least for our course in respect of taking online classes. But I feel pressurised a lot at least in online mode even I am 10 times more stressed than in 12th. In this college, students are studying online. I do not like online studies at all. Some students in our batch find this online mode great. I am still waiting to continue this study properly in online mode.

SXC - The College of my dream.
Placements: The placement cell works just fine. No one has ever complained about it. A few of the students from our course attended the recruitment process from various companies, & almost all got placed pretty decently. About 17-20% of students are currently doing summer internship from different companies. People got placed as assistant data analyst, business analyst etc. The median package was 3.8 LPA.
Infrastructure: I'm calling it above average because of poor hostel facilities. The quality of food & management of students in our hostel is actually pretty poor. The infrastructure of out department is pretty much up to the mark. The labs, the classrooms & the library is extremely tech-modernised. The canteen is pretty decent, & value for money. Lots of different types of foods are available at good enough prices. Emergency medical services are okay, & the college has many sports teams that represent the college all around the country.
Faculty: The faculty of SXC, our dept especially, is one of the best in our country. All the profs. are extremely qualified, & they are down-to-earth demeanor only helps the cause of the students greatly. The course structure is built pretty neat & arranged. The students gain handful insights into the subject throughout the 3 years. The uses of different software during the course helps the students learn in a modern way, that helps them later in their Master's.
Other: I loved Statistics, & have always wanted to be a data analyst. The ever growing market of this subject makes it a can't-miss. Frankly, I don't think there's anything needed to be changed about the course. The campus atmosphere is very healthy & vibrant. During the innumerable fests that different depts. of our college hold, the color just goes to the next level. There are many awards & scholarships available if different courses for the top performing students of each dept. Xavotsav - the best college fest in Eastern India is something you don't wanna miss, even if you're not a part of our college.

The College is affiliated with A+ rating and there are reasons.
Placements: Placement depends upon the course you are studying. About 30-40% of the students get placed under B.Sc. It is not a bad number, since the rest decide to do higher studies eventually. The highest package ranges around 10-12 LPA, while the lowest is around 3-4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The Classroom and the labs are A-class. All the latest technology, software and assistance is available. It really adds to the aura of the College. The college also has Hostel which is good I guess. Not being a hostel resident, don't know much about it.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful. One of the best faculty is found here. There is a reason why it is an A+ affiliated College. And the course is so designed that it is beneficiary in all the Competitive examinations and provides student an upper hand on others institutions.

Good sports environment, good infrastructure.
Placements: People don't usually take up jobs after a B.Sc. in statistics. They usually go for Masters and in that regard, the performance of my batchmates and seniors were quite successful. As for placements, I think, only a few (3-4 people in my batch) took up jobs.
Infrastructure: No Wi-Fi, Labs was comfortable. It's an old building, so classrooms have that old smell. But overall, it's well maintained. Sports and games facilities are second to None. A level football field, basketball court, dedicated table tennis room, they have it all.
Faculty: Not all, only a couple of teachers out of six were knowledgeable. Everyone is qualified and helpful, though. As for teaching qualitu, only one professor was really good. There is one teacher for every 8 students. No indistry exposure. Course curriculum was iseful for entrance exams.

The faculty are highly qualified. The curriculum is well-structured, but there is no recreation.
Placements: The placements are very limited. Most of the students didn't opt for the placement cell. You have to opt for the placement cell to avail yourself of the placement process. The jobs offered were pretty lucrative for a fresher. Most of the students are placed as analysts. There is a rigorous selection process.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is pretty good. Speaking of statistics department, it is UGC funded, and fees are pretty low as compared to the other departments. The classrooms are very standard, and some are also airconditioned. The computer labs are huge enough to accomodate as many as 60 students. The entire campus is CCTV monitored. The TT room is the heart of the college.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified but sometimes they are not very friendly (or maybe in my case). The course is well-structured and student friendly. The student's strength is healthy, and it is one of the youngest departments in the college and among the fastest growing ones.

A big name in the college industry but not so good from inside.
Placements: There are placement cells in our college, but as our subject has great scope for future study and good prospects of getting a job, so there are no trends from our department to get a job after B.Sc. Most importantly, the companies which come know that a statistics student won't be happy with that role or that salary as they have every chance to get a lot more salary after two more years. So the prospect is bleak.
Infrastructure: There is no use of Wi-Fi. The labs are good. Actually, the computer science department in our college is the best. I know it as we had computer science as pass. The lab is good. The classrooms are big and fine. But they don't have lifts for the students. So, we had to attend classes within 5 min and we had to get down from the 3rd floor of one building to the 4th floor of another building. The medical facilities are very good although I didn't need their services luckily. The campus is small, so the chances of getting a space to play are very bleak. Moreover, the availability of a bat, ball, football, etc. is also not so much. The storekeeper who keeps the sports accessories is not very good. The food's quality is not good and expensive. Only luchi alur dom and chicken sandwich are only cheap options, although their quality is not good. I wasn't at the hostel but that's also pretty average.
Faculty: The faculty isn't that good. Their qualifications- average. Their knowledge- average. Helpfulness- good. The teaching methods are mainly notes-based, which is a very poor technique for a science honours course. Questions from the students are not entertained happily. The student-teacher ratio is far from ideal. But St. Xavier's College, the name is big enough. So yes, we got exposure. The curriculum is not that useful.
