NIFTEE 2026 entrance exam is to be conducted today, February 08, 2026. It is time now to prepare for the test day. Candidates appearing for the NIFT 2026 GAT and CAT exams are required to follow certain guidelines and dress code at the test centre. NTA, the examination conducting body will have elaborate arrangements for conduct of the exam in free and fair environment. Candidates are expected to follow the guidelines and cooperate with the test centre staff for smooth conduct of the exam.

NIFT Entrance Exam Dress Code for Male Candidates
- Candidates must not wear caps and hoodies
- Candidates should not wear high boots
- Candidates should not wear jackets and coats with pocket
- Candidate should not wear belts, etc. with metal in it
- Candidates should not wear wrist watch
- Simple shirts and trousers, sweaters are allowed

Slot booking process for the NIFT Situation Test 2026 will be held a few weeks before the Situation Test. Slot booking process will be held online and will be open for candidates who have qualified in NIFT written exams. As part of the slot booking process, candidate needs to book their date and time slots for Situation Test. Note that slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The details of the slot allocated to the candidate, exam centre, and other key details will be mentioned on the admit card.
Candidates will be provided with the items for making the model during the NIFT Situation Test. Materials that students may be provided with are Glaze Papers, Plasticine Clay, Copper Wire, Ivory Sheets, Cardboard, Thermocol (thick And Thin), Kite Papers, Handmade Sheet, Coloured Clay, Cellophane, Fabric, Thread, Ribbon, Straw, Aluminum Foil, etc. The candidate can not use any other items except the ones provided in the exam hall.

The NIFT Situation Test is a hands-on test that B. Des candidates need to appear in after qualifying the written exam. During the Situation Test the candidate has to make a model. Note that the material for making the model will be provided to the candidate inside the exam hall; no other material expect that provided to the candidate is allowed. So, candidates appearing in the Situation Test must not bring any additional materials for the Situation Test. The Situation Test will be evaluated on the spot. It is mandatory for the candidate to draft a write-up explaining the model.

What to Wear on NIFT Exam Day 2026?
The above mentioned dress code is to ensure that no candidate indulges in cheating or any sort of malpractice to affect the exam negatively. Both male and female candidates must keep in mind comfort and ease on the NIFT exam day while choosing their outfit. They should preferably opt for simple clothing and comfortable footwear.

NIFTEE 2026 was conducted on February 08, 2026. Written tests comprised a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates.
On the day of the NIFT exam, candidates must bring the following items with them NIFT 2026 admit card, a valid photo id proof, HB Pencil, eraser, sharpener, and dry colours.
Items that are not allowed inside the exam venue are water bottle, papers, notes, Books, calculator, electronic gadgets, mobile phone, bag, handbagand correction marker/ white fluid.
NIFT Situation Test will be conducted in an offline mode at the various NIFT campuses. Considering there are 19 NIFTs, the candidate will be able to select any of these institutes to appear in the Situation Test. The window to select test centres for the Situation Test will be announced soon after the declaration of NIFT results for the written exam. Test centres for the Situation Test will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So, candidates need to book their slots as soon as possible. Note that if seats in a particular centre (or institute) fill out, the candidate will not be able to be offered slots for that institute.
NIFT situation test will test candidate on Colour scheme, Space visualization, Construction skill, Finesse of the model, Composition of elements, Overall presentation, Innovative and creative use of given material, etc. Situation Test will be evaluated on the spot.
Model made by candidate will not be kept for future reference. Candidate must make sure that their model is unique and stands out from the crowd. After making model, candidate must write about the model- write-up explaining the model.

Things to Carry On NIFT 2026 Exam Day
Check below the list of items to carry on the NIFT 2026 exam day. You must arrange these 2 days before the NIFT Entrance exam Stage 1.
- Two copies of the NIFT 2026 Admit Card
- AADHAAR Card for verification
- A passport-size photograph for pasting on the Attendance Sheet
- Personal transparent water bottle
- A simple transparent Ball Point Pen/ Pencil / Erasers / Ruler (In a transparent pouch)/ A-4 Transparent Acrylic Board (for B.Des./M.Des. candidates).
Note: No other item will be allowed inside the test lab. Before reaching the NIFT test entre, candidates must enter the required details, paste their photo, and put a thumb impression at the appropriate section on the NIFT admit card 2026. Make sure that the Left-Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.

The GAT paper for all the B.Des and M.Des courses was conducted from 9 am - 11 am. Meanwhile, the GAT written exam for B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M. courses were conducted from 9 am - 12 noon.
The allotment of seats will be based on:
- Choice opted at the time of counseling registration (academic programs + campuses)
- The category of the candidate
- Seat intake in the college opted for admission
- NIFT 2026 merit rank of the candidate.
NIFT 2026 seat allotment process will be conducted in four regular and one spot rounds.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will conduct NIFT 2026 seat allotment for SPOT Round in the last week of July 2026.

- Go to the NIFT admission portal
- Log in to the portal
- If will see an option for seat withdrawal.
- Click on the option and confirm the withdrawal process
- Once the withdrawal is confirmed, the allotted seat will be canceled.
Things you can take inside NTA NIFT Exam Hall
Candidates must carry only the following items with them into the NIFT 2026 examination centre.
- Admit Card along with a duly filled Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper).
- A simple transparent Ball Point
Candidates appearing for NIFT CAT also need to carry their Colouring and Drawing material. For CAT, a physical Question Booklet with space for responses will be provided at the Centre. 02 Additional photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) to be pasted on the attendance sheet in examination Room/ Hall.
- Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired) – College Identity Card with photograph/ PAN Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E-Aadhaar with photograph/ Ration Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
- PwD certificate and UDID issued by the authorized medical officer (if applicable)
- Personal transparent water.
- Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic.

There is no fixed number of mock tests one should take before the NIFT Entrance Exam. A candidate should take at least one mock test daily for the NIFT Entrance Preparation. 10-15 mock tests will really help in preparing for the exam.
