ISDI Challenge 2025 Exam Pattern
As per the ISDI 2025 challenge exam pattern, the exam will have three sections:
1. Step A: Upload Your Portfolio – 100 Marks, 40% Weightage
The first and most crucial part of the ISDI Challenge is the Portfolio Submission, which carries 100 marks and has the highest weightage of 40% in the overall evaluation. This portfolio showcases your creative abilities and personal design expression.
- You can include a diverse range of media in your portfolio, such as drawings, paintings, sculptures, performances, graphic design, animation, photography, or sketchbook pages. Applicants are encouraged to submit 8–10 of their best works.
- The portfolio must be uploaded as a PDF file, multiple JPEG/JPGs, or a zipped folder, with a maximum file size of 500 MB. Please note that submissions may be used by ISDI for academic or training purposes.
OR Step A: Complete the Design Project – 100 Marks, 40% Weightage
If you do not have a ready portfolio, ISDI offers an alternative through the Design Project, carrying 100 marks and contributing 40% weightage to your overall ISDI Challenge score. To move forward in the admission process, candidates must create an original visual work inspired by one of the following themes:
-
One World
-
Tracing Nature
-
Translating Tomorrow
This creative project allows applicants to showcase their imagination, design thinking, and artistic skills instead of a traditional portfolio.
2. Step B: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) – 100 Marks, 30% Weightage
The second stage of the ISDI Challenge is the Online Design Aptitude Test (DAT), carrying 100 marks and contributing 30% weightage to the final selection score. This multiple-choice exam is designed to assess your design aptitude, creativity, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking. The total duration for this is 60 minutes.
The DAT is structured into four sections to evaluate different skill areas essential for a career in design. The breakup for DAT is as follows:
Section | No. of Questions | Total Marks |
---|---|---|
General Awareness | 15 | 30 |
Logical Reasoning | 15 | 30 |
Analytical Thinking | 10 | 20 |
Storytelling | 1 | 20 |
3. Step C: Online Interview – 100 Marks, 30% Weightage
As can be seen from the details given above, the Portfolio and Design Project carries the maximum weightage. So, the candidate needs to pay special attention to the topic.
The final phase of the ISDI Challenge is the Online Interview, which carries a total of 100 marks and holds a 30% weightage in the overall evaluation. Once you complete and submit Sections 1 and 2, the ISDI Admissions Team will contact you to schedule your interview. This interaction will be conducted via a phone or video call with an ISDI faculty member.
- Duration: 25 minutes
- Purpose: Assess your creativity, clarity of thought, and motivation to join ISDI.
