Mystory@P.Swaminadh: How I selected my college and course
Till standard 10, I studied in one of the best schools in our town. When it was time to select a stream, I decided to choose MPC completely on the basis of my interest in Physics and Chemistry. After that, I joined a not-so-well-known college. I was given a seat on the basis of the marks I had secured in standard 10. There were two reasons because of which I joined that college. One was that we could not afford the high fee of corporate colleges (where most of my friends took admission), and secondly I was skeptical of living away from my parents.
From the beginning of my 11th standard my aim was to get a seat in IIT or NIT. Sometimes I felt sad that I was unable to attend JEE coaching like my friends but I worked with lot of patience. Finally, after a lot of struggle, I got seat in Civil Engineering at NIT Calicut, Kerala in 2015, one of the top institutes in the country.
I owe my success to my parents. The moral support provided by them did wonder for me and the academic support of my college teachers too helped a lot. Reading newspaper, articles and some reference books on JEE Mains is a must before appearing for the exam. At first when I joined NIT, I felt extremely elated because I earned that seat without attending any coaching. My hard work and self-preparation finally paid off.
