SSC Stenographer Exam Centre 2026: The Staff Selection Commission has started a new facility to select the examination slot. The candidates can avail this facility to select their examination slot. The Commission will allot the SSC Stenographer exam centre based on the first applied basis. The Commission finalise the slots as per the application received from the candidates and allot approximately 90 per cent of the candidates, the exam slot of their choice.

The SSC Stenographer exam will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) in August-September 2026. The Commission is yet to release the exam dates on its official website - ssc.gov.in. It will be conducted in over 100 cities across the nation. The candidates should note that the SSC Stenographer applications will be released in April 2026.

The Staff Selection Commission will notify the list of SSC Stenographer Grade C and D exam centres in the exam notification. As per the SSC Exam calendar 2026-27, the Commission will release the SSC Stenographer notification in March 2026. It will mention the zone-wise exam centre in its notification. The list of SSC Stenographer exam centres is given below.

The important guidelines related to SSC Stenographer exam centre are given below:

  • Three SSC Stenographer exam centres in the order of priority within the same region can be selected by candidates
  • No request for a change in SSC Stenographer exam centre will be accepted by the examination authority

Candidate who is found either copying or receiving assistance will be disqualified. Candidate offering assistance to other candidates will also be disqualified.

Q:   What is SSC Stenographer exam pattern?

The Computer Based Test of SSC Stenographer comprises three sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension. The General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness sections carry 50 questions each while the English Language and Comprehension section comprises 100 questions. Total marks allotted to General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness sections are 50 each while the English Language and Comprehension section carry 100 marks. Candidates will be given two hours to complete the exam.

In the skill test, candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi which they need to type at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m) for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m for Stenographer Grade D post.

Release of application form: SSC Stenographer application form is released online. The application fee is INR 100, Women and Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with disability (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) candidates are exempted from fee payment.

Issue of admit card: SSC Stenographer admit card is released online on the respective regional websites of the commission. Candidates can access their admit cards by logging with registration ID/roll number/candidate’s name and password. 

Computer-Based Test: This is the first stage of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D. The computer-based test is conducted for all candidates who successfully register for the exam. The exam comprises three sections, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension. The total marks for the test are 200.

Declaration of result: SSC Stenographer result is declared online for different stages of exams. The result is made available in PDF format. It displays the roll numbers of qualified candidates.
