Q:   What is the last date for JNU admission?
A: 

Jawaharlal Nehru University accepts CUET-UG and CUET-PG entrance test scores for admission to several undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate and PG Diploma courses. The University also accepts a few national-level entrance exam scores for admission to courses such as BTech, MBA, etc. For admission to BA (Hons.) in Foreign Languages, BSc-MSc Integrated programme in Ayurveda Biology and Certificate of Proficiency courses, JNU accepts CUET-UG scores. 

  • The registration window for CUET UG for Jawaharlal Nehru University admission UG courses usually open by February. Further, the CUET UG is held between May and June.

Q:   Is it tough to get admission to the JNU MCA programme?
A: 

JNU MCA admission is based on a valid Central University Entrance Test (Postgraduate) CUET-PG score. CUET PG is an all-India-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to test-takers, the General Test was easy and the Domain Knowledge section was moderate to tough. Although the questions were on the expected lines and within the CUET PG syllabus but according to some students, a few questions were out of the syllabus and tricky. So, the JNU MCA entrance is not very tough but can be tricky. 

Q:   Is MBA from JNU a good option?
A: 

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) offers a two-year full-time MBA course at the postgraduate level. It is offered by the university through the Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management & Entrepreneurship. JNU was ranked 2nd position in the University category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. Talking about JNU placements, the median package offered during JNU PG 2-year placements in 2023 stood at INR 9.5 LPA. So, yes JNU is a decent option to pursue an MBA degree.

Q:   Is it worth pursuing BSc at JNU?
A: 

Jawaharlal Nehru University has been ranked second among the top universities of India in the NIRF ranking 2023. Thus, it is a good university for BSc course aspirants. As per the NIRF report 2023, the median package offered during JNU placements 2022 to UG (3-year) students was INR 6 LPA. Q:   Which is better for MCA: JNU or DU?
A: 

Both JNU and DU offer a two-year full-time MCA course at the postgraduate level. However, the University of Delhi is more popular for its undergraduate courses and Jawaharlal Nehru University is popular for its postgraduate courses. However, Delhi University's median package offered to the MCA students was a bit higher than JNU. Further, during JNU PG placements 2023, the median package offered was INR 9.5 LPA, whereas, the median package stood at INR 16 LPA for DU MCA students.

Q:   What is Jawaharlal Nehru University famous for?
A: 

Jawaharlal Nehru University is popularly know for its academics since 1969. The university is well-known for its BTech and MBA programme. The courses are UGC recognised and NAAC A+ accredited. It is a goverment/ public university which offers quality education under the guidance of experts. JNU Delhi was spread across 1019 acres which includes library, seminar halls, convocation centre, cafeteria, mess, sports complex, mess, hostel and others.

Q:   How are the placements for MTech in JNU?

JNU has not released its 2023 placements report as of now. However, considering the NIRF report 2023, PG 2-year candidates received placement offers in the JNU 2022 placements. As per the overall report, the median package offered to the selected candidates stood at INR 7.95 LPA. A marginal decline of nearly 1% can be seen in the PG 2-year median package offered in 2022 as compared with 2021. Moreover, many top companies recruit JNU graduates every year. Some of the top recruiters in the JNU placements drive in the recent past have been companies like Adobe, TCS, Accenture, IBM, Google, and Amazon.

Q:   Are there any government job opportunities available after completing BA (Hons) course from JNU?
A: 

After the completion of a BA (Hons) from JNU, candidates can apply for different government jobs. Graduates tend to seek employment in public administration, teaching, and social services. Candidates can apply for competitive exams such as UPSC, SSC, and State Public Service Commissions for the positions of IAS, IPS, or other government departments.

Besides, there are opportunities in banking, railways, and other PSUs, where a BA degree is a qualifying criterion. With appropriate preparation and focus, graduates with a BA can get employment in the government sector. 

Q:   When will be CUET UG exam conducted?
A: 

CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in May/June for 37 subjects. The mode of examination is CBT (Computer Based Test). NTA did not release official notification for CUET UG date sheet. Candidates can know exam details through CUET UG information bulletin. NTA will conduct CUET UG 2026 exam in multiple phases depending upon the number of candidates registering for the exam. Registered candidates can know the exact CUET UG exam on hall ticket. Candidates will have to report at the alloted exam centre on the day of the examination. The exam will be held in two slots each day depending upon the subject combinations chosen by the candidate.

Q:   How many seats are there in JNU for MA?
A: 

There are over 965 seats for MA courses. The seat reservation policy is carried out as per a set of rules. Reservation of seats in various programmes of study for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (Non Creamy Layer (NCL) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category is 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 10%, respectively. As per the provisions of Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Act, 2016, not less than 5% seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

Q:   What is JNU JEE Main cutoff 2025?
A: 

Considering the JNU JEE Main cutoff 2025 for the Round 4 seat allotment, for the candidates belonging to the General AI quota, the JEE Main cutoff ranged between 29861 and 36862. Similarly, for the OBC AI quota, the JEE Main cutoff for the latest round stood between 11880 and 14471. The cutoffs are released for only two programs namely CSE and ECE. Between these two, the most competitive is BTech in CSE with lower ranks under All India quotas. Check out the viable BTech options for the General AI quota from the table below:

Q:   Is there any entrance exam for MA admission at JNU?
A: 

Yes, candidates seeking admission to the JNU MA course must appear for the CUET-PG entrance exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The students are admitted on merit based on their performance in the entrance test and the deprivation points are added to their score in accordance with the approved admission Policy and Procedures of the University. The CUET PG 2023 exam will be held for postgraduate course admissions to over 50 Central and participating Universities.

Q:   Do I have to pay the full tuition fee for BTech course at JNU if my family doesn't earn much?
A: 

No, JNU is quite supportive when it comes to financial backgrounds. The university uses a tiered system to make education affordable. If your family's annual income is below INR 1 Lakh, you fall into the "Economically Most Backward" category and your BTech tuition fee is completely waived, meaning you pay INR 0 for tuition. For those with a family income between INR 1 Lacs and INR 5 Lakhs, the fee is heavily subsidized at just INR 20,833 per semester. Only students whose family income exceeds INR 5 Lakhs per year are required to pay the full tuition fee of INR 62,500.

Q:   How is the campus life at JNU different from a place like IIT or DTU?
A: 

At an IIT or DTU, you are surrounded almost entirely by Science and tech students, which is great for "tech-only" networking. However, JNU is a multidisciplinary university. This means your friends might be studying International Relations, Languages, or Economics. This environment helps you develop a broader worldview, which is increasingly valued by tech companies looking for "well-rounded" engineers.  

Q:   Can I get direct admission at Jawaharlal Nehru University?
A: 

No, Jawaharlal Nehru University does not offer direct admission. The university offers admission based on merit and entrance-based. The university accepts national entrance exams like CUET UG, JEE Main, NDA, CAT, CUET PG, and others. 

Q:   Who is eligible for BSc at JNU?
A: 

For JNU BSc course admission, the course aspirant should have passed Class 12 or any equivalent examination with a minimum 45% aggregate from a recognised board. Candidate should have passed the qualifying exam from a recognised board. It is also necessary that the student carry the educational document at the time of form filling and admission. The documents are required for verification purposes.

Q:   What is the cutoff of JNU for 2025 admission?
A: 

JNU CUET UG cutoff 2025 has been released for admission to various UG courses and specialisations. The cutoff was released for different categories such as General, OBC and SC categories belonging to the All India quota. The cutoff scores varied between 33.8 and 74.4, among the General AI category candidates.  Among the OBC AI category candidates, the closing ranks varied between 29.16 and 69.64.  The branch-wise cutoff ranks for the General AI category has been provided in the table below:

Q:   Can I join JNU Advanced Diploma courses after Class 12?
A: 

Yes, to be eligible for JNU Advanced Diploma courses, candidates must have passed Class 12 or any equivalent examinations. Hence, Class 12 pass-outs can pursue this course. Additionally, the qualifying exam should have been passed from a rrecognized board. For document verification, the academic mark sheets and pass certificate shall be kept handy during the application form filling and admission confirmation.

Q:   How many rounds of JEE Main Counselling 2025 are expected to be conducted?
A: 

The expected counselling rounds for the JEE Main counselling process could be conducted in 6 rounds going as per last year's counselling process. All candidates with a valid JEE Main score are eligible to participate in JoSSA for admission to various BTech courses. The counselling process includes registration, online filling and locking of choices, seat allotment, where students can choose between freeze, float or slide option, after which verification of documents is required and physical reporting to the allotted institution.

Q:   Does JNU BTech programme have a Delhi-state quota or any female-only seats?
A: 

Unlike many other prestigious Delhi-based institutions like DTU or NSUT, JNU does not reserve a percentage of seats for students from the NCR. Also, the seat matrix is strictly gender-neutral. While many engineering colleges add "Female Supernumerary" seats to balance the gender ratio, JNU's current intake of 126 does not include these extra seats, making the admission process purely based on category-wise merit ranks.
