JNU is ranked 10th under the Overall category and 2nd under the University category by NIRF 2024. Considered one of India’s top-ranked universities for postgraduate and research studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central university that has been given the status of ‘University of Excellence' by the UGC. JNU Delhi has been accredited by the NAAC with a Grade Point of 3.91 (on a scale of 4). The university is also ranked 580 by the QS World University Rankings 2025, 14 by the Asian University Rankings - Southern Asia category 2025, and 110 under the Asian University Rankings category 2025.

JNU has also been ranked 580 by QS World University Ranking 2025. The University has also become India’s first-ever University to offer foreign language courses within its Integrated MA programme. Jawaharlal Nehru University course admissions are entrance-based. Additionally, JNU admission to BA (Hons) in Foreign Languages, BSc-MSc Integrated Programme in Ayurveda Biology, and Certificate of Proficiency courses is based on CUET-UG scores. For PG courses, CUET-PG and some other national-level exams are accepted. Master degree courses in JNU Delhi include MBA, MSc, MA, and MTech.
