The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted NCHMCT JEE 2019 for the first time today, April 27 from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM. A three-hour duration test, the paper was conducted in online mode in 49 cities across the country. Soon after the exam got over, Shiksha got in touch with few candidates to analyse the NCHMCT JEE paper.
There were no surprises in NCHMCT JEE 2019 question paper. Overall, the exam was easy and test pattern (except the marking scheme) was similar to that of last years’ papers. Before we proceed towards elaborating on section-wise NCHMCT JEE 2019 exam analysis, let us have a look at the changed marking scheme of the paper.

NCHMCT JEE 2019 Marking Scheme
Although there were no changes in NCHMCT JEE 2019 exam pattern, the marking scheme for the paper was different from last year. Until last year, the hospitality entrance exam held total weightage of 200 marks, wherein one mark was awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 marks were deducted for each incorrect answer.

In 2019, NTA changed the marking scheme of the paper, wherein, four marks were given for each correct answer and one mark was deducted for each wrong answer. No marks were deducted for questions left unanswered. Total weightage for NCHMCT JEE 2019 exam was 800 marks.
Although the level of the questions asked in NCHMCT JEE 2019 was easy, the change in the marking scheme has certainly increased the difficulty level of the paper as candidates are at the risk of losing more marks in the exam.

Section-Wise NCHMCT JEE 2019 Exam Analysis
Similar to previous years, Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude section (commonly referred to as Maths section) was the most difficult as compared to all other sections in the exam. Also, questions asked in General Knowledge & Current Affairs were easy but asked in a tricky way, which required candidates to read each and every question carefully. Rest Reasoning and Logical Deduction and English Language sections were easy; however, Aptitude for Service Sector section was the easiest.

Section-Wise Type of Questions Asked in NCHMCT JEE 2019

NCHMCT JEE 2019 – Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude
Basic Mathematics questions of Class 9th and 10th level were asked in NCHMCT JEE 2019 exam. Some of the topics from which questions were asked in this section are Age, Work and Wages, Chain Rule, and Time and Work.
NCHMCT JEE 2019 – Reasoning and Logical Deduction
Reasoning and Logical Deduction section consisted of easy questions that could be solved by applying basic logic. Some of the topics from which questions were asked in this section are Blood Relations, Series, Statement and Assumptions, and Verbal Reasoning.
NCHMCT JEE 2019 – General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Most of the questions in this section were from static GK from subjects such as Science and History. There were very less number of questions from Current Affairs. Some of the questions that were asked in this section are:
- What is the age of the President to be elected for India?
- When will be next Commonwealth Games held?
- Who arrested the father of Shah Jahan?
- What is the capital of Sikkim?
- Where is Heathrow airport located?
- Who got the FIFA golden ball 2018?
NCHMCT JEE 2019 – English Language
In English, basic questions were asked from topics such as Synonyms, Antonyms, Conjunctions and Prepositions. There were also unseen passages in the exam, which were easy to attempt.
NCHMCT JEE 2019 – Aptitude for Service Sector
This section consisted of questions related to the hotel industry and their services. This was the easiest section in the exam. Since there is no exact right or wrong answer for questions, this section has graded marking. This means that candidates giving more justifying answer to a question get more marks.
