Doon University accepts national entrance exams such as JEE Main, CAT and MAT. Aspiring candidates must qualify the exam as per the desired course. The university conducts the Doon University Entrance Test (DUET) for admissions to UG and PG courses.

The cutoff marks of Guwahati University vary from course to course. The university has provided minimum qualifying cutoff marks for admission to a majority of courses offered by Guwahati University. Candidates must have at least 45 percent aggregate in their UG programme to become eligible for the PG programme. For the M.Tech programme, candidates must have secured at least 50 percent aggregate and for MEd and Integrated MSc-PhD, students just need a relevant UG degree to be eligible. 

HNB Garhwal University is a decent, government-run Central University in Uttarakhand.

Over the past few years, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU Shillong) has been ranked under multiple streams namely Management, Engineering, Computer Application, and others. North Eastern Hill University is ranked 80 by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023 under the University category and 66 by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023 under the University category.
