Bangalore University MA Admission Process 2020 including its eligibility criteria and application process

Established in the year 1964, Bangalore University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Started its operations in the industry by offering Honors courses in the year 1965-66, the university today offers a wide range of courses on Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), MPhil, PhD and Diploma level in multiple streams like Engineering, Science, Law, Commerce, Teaching & Education and Humanities & Social Sciences.

  • For all MA programmes, candidates need to be graduates in the relevant subject
  • Apart from MA, the University also offers MSW, Master of Visual Arts (MVA), Master of Performing Arts (MPA) & Master Of Tourism And Travel Management (MTTM)
  • The eligibility criteria for MSW, Master of Visual Arts, Master of Performing Arts & Master Of Tourism And Travel Management is also a graduation degree
  • Admission to all the courses is offered on the basis of merit scores followed by a counselling round conducted by Postgraduate Admission Committee (PGAC)

Bangalore University Admission 2020: MA, MSW, MVA, MPA, MTTM

Bangalore University offers MA and MPA programme in a number of specialisations which different eligibility criteria for each and every specialisation.

Final admission to all these courses is offered after scrutinizing the application form submitted by the candidates. Based on the marks in the qualifying exam, merit lists are published on the basis of candidates’ merit and category. After merit list declaration, candidates are invited for counselling for the final confirmation of seat.

MA

Sub-Specialisation

Eligibility Criteria

Kannada

- Graduates with 40% in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in the relevant subject.

- BA, BSc or BCom graduates with at least 55% marks in the Language Kannada in the degree course are also eligible

Comparative Literature Studies (Taulanika Kannada)

40% aggregate marks in graduation along with 50% marks in cognate subject

NOTE: A, BSc, BCom Degree candidates are eligible to apply provided they have 55% in the Language concerned in the degree course with Kannada Rathna or Pandit

Rural Development and Management

Graduation with an aggregate of 40% marks overall and 50% marks in the optional subjects

Women ’s Studies

Graduation with 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply

NOTE: Those who have studied Women’s Studies as a cognate subject will be given preference over others

Journalism & Mass Communication

A graduation (either journalism or non-journalism) with 50% marks

Public for Relations & Advertising

A pass in the Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all the subjects including languages

Media Studies

A pass in the bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks including languages

 

Public for Relations & Advertising

Economics

40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects in graduation and 50% marks in the cognate subject

English

Graduates with 40% in the overall aggregate and 50% marks in the cognate subject

NOTE: Candidates with BA, BSc or BCom Degree are eligible provided they have scored 55% marks in the Language concerned in the degree course

Hindi

History

Candidates who have secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in the cognate subject at the Bachelor’s Degree level.

Philosophy

Any graduate with 50% aggregate marks

Political Science

40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in the cognate subject / Public Administration at the Bachelor’s Degree level

 

Sanskrit

40% marks in the overall aggregate and 50% marks in the cognate subject at the Bachelor’s Degree Level OR Those having BA / BSc / BCom/ BBA / BBM / BCA / BHM degree with 55% marks in the Language OR A pass in Sahitya Examination in Sanskrit / Sanskrit Bhasha Vidvat Madhyama / a Diploma Course in Sanskrit with a Degree

Sociology

40% marks in the overall aggregate and 50% marks in the cognate subject at the Bachelor’s degree level

Telugu

40% marks in graduation along with 50% marks in the cognate subject

Those with BA, BSc or BCom degree are eligible provided they have 55% marks in the Language concerned in the degree course

Urdu

Criminology

A pass in BA in Criminology or BA with one of the following subjects with 45% marks:

Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Social work Management Political Science, Public policy

(5% relaxation for SC/ST, Category-I and persons with disabilities candidates)

Master of Performing Arts

Specialisation

Eligibility Criteria

Music

A UG degree with Music Vocal / Instrumental as one of the optional subject with at least 50% marks in the concerned optional subject OR a UG degree with a minimum of 50% marks in the Senior Grade Examination in Music (Vocal/Instrumental), conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board OR a graduate with a minimum of 50% marks in PG Diploma or 2 years Diploma or 4 years Certificate Course in Vocal / Instrumental Music from a recognized University / Institute.

Dance

A UG degree with Dance as an optional subject with at least 50% marks in the optional subject OR a graduate with minimum 50% marks in the Senior Grade Examination in Dance, conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board OR a graduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks in the PG Diploma or 2 years Diploma or 4 years Certificate Course in Dance

Theatre

A UG degree in Theatre / Drama / Dance / Music as cognate subject with 50% marks OR Any graduate with a Diploma / Certificate Course in Theatre / Drama / Film Acting, conducted by a Department of Government of Karnataka / any State Government / Central Government OR Any graduate with a Diploma (from Janapada Loka Affiliated to Bangalore University / Reputed Drama Institutes) / Certificate of Drama Workshops conducted by Karnataka Nataka Academy or NSD

Mridanga

A degree in music with Mridanga as an optional subject with minimum 50% marks in the cognate subject OR graduation with minimum 50% marks in the senior grade examination of Mridanga conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board OR graduation with minimum 50% marks in a PG Diploma or 2-years Diploma or 4-years certificate course in Mridanga

Master Of Tourism And Travel Management

A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Commerce, Management, Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering / Technology with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates)

Bangalore University Application Process 2020

Interested candidates need to fill the application form online. Follow the following steps for online application:

  1. Visit the official website of the university
  2. Fill the application form and pay the application fee through e-payment
  3. Send the filled-in application form along with self-attested copies of the required documents in person or via registered post to the university

Once the form is submitted, all the photocopied documents submitted by the candidates along with the Application Form are verified and the application for admission is liable for rejection without any notice in case of incomplete details or if the attached documents not found to be in order or not valid as per UGC/University Rules. Shortlisted ones are then called for counselling after this verification.

Bangalore University Seat Reservation 2020

Reservation of seats at Bangalore University is as per the Govt. orders issued from time to time. Except for situations where there is only one seat, reservation rules are followed. If all the categories of reservation couldn’t be covered, seats shall be allotted in the order of preference specified in the below-mentioned table in the mentioned proportion assuring equitable distribution.
