DU admissions 2021 through merit and entrance exams have commenced. Check DU admission process, cutoffs and important dates for all UG and PG courses.
DU Admissions 2021: Delhi University Admissions 2021 process commenced on August 2, 2021 and the last date to submit the DU Application Form 2021 was August 31. DU First cut-off was announced on October 1 and second cut off 2021 on October 9. Delhi University admission process is conducted for all undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) courses offered by various DU colleges. Like every year, UG admissions for the academic year 2021-22 will be merit-based and take place on the basis of cut-off marks. Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the CUCET has been ruled out.

DU Admissions 2021 through Merit
Delhi University and its affiliated colleges offer admission to most of its courses on the basis of merit. As part of the admission process, Delhi University releases about 10-11 cutoffs every year. Aspirants meeting the DU cutoffs are considered qualified for admission in their applied course at the varsity.
DU Admission Dates 2021
This year, with the cancellation of Class 12th Board Exams by CBSE, and other state boards, the DU Registrations 2021 began online on August 2 and ended on August 31.

DU Admission Process 2021
Candidates seeking admission to Delhi University on the basis of cutoffs can follow the steps mentioned below:
- DU admission form 2021: Delhi University Admission forms were made available to candidates from August 2, 2021, onwards. Candidates have to fill DU application form 2021 online by visiting the official website of the varsity until August 31, 2021. Candidates have to pay DU application fee 2021 in online mode through credit card/ debit card/ net banking. The application/registration fee for the DU Admissions is different for different categories as well as for merit-based and entrance-based courses and has to be paid accordingly at the time of application.
- DU cutoffs: Once DU registration process is over and Class 12th Board Exam results are announced, the Delhi University release the cutoffs for different UG courses on its official website. Candidates need to check if they are meeting the cutoff for their respective course. Thereafter, they need to login to the DU admission portal to choose a college and course from the list of colleges and courses they are available for.
- Document verification: Candidates meeting the required cutoff need to participate in the document verification process conducted at different colleges of Delhi University. For the same, candidates need to visit their preferred college with a printout of the application form, all educational documents and certificates (original and photocopy), and three recent passport size photographs. Once the document verification process is completed, candidates will be given admission in their respective courses. Read: List of Important Documents Required for DU Admission 2021
- DU admission fee: After completing the document verification process, candidates are required to log in to DU admission portal using their registered accounts and pay the prescribed course fee to secure a seat. Note: The official website of Delhi University informs, "The applicant is advised to pay the fee without delay within 24 hrs after the approval of admission by the Head of Institution and save the acknowledgement slip bearing transaction ID, Credit Card/ Debit card/ Net banking details and date of transaction as a proof for future reference. On successful payment of fees, the applicant is granted provisional admission to the said college."
- Change of college/ course: In case, candidates wish to withdraw their admission after the release of subsequent DU cutoff lists, they are advised to first ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria and any other requirements (if any) for the course/ college. If sure, they can cancel their admission on the admission portal and visit the preferred college with the new application form and complete the document verfication process (explained in the step above). The admission fee paid for the previous college will be refunded (with a deduction of Rs 1,000 as cancellation fee) and visible in the Wallet section of the dashboard. It may be noted that only one cancellation is allowed per cutoff list released by DU.
Note: Candidates must note that owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and prevailing public health guidelines, UG merit-based admissions under the ECA and Sports Categories will take place without the conduct of online/offline trials. Admissions under these supernumerary seats will be done based on the Merit/Participation certificates of the applicants. Only for this year, the applicants will be allowed to upload certificates of the preceding four years (1st May 2017 – 30th April 2021).
DU Cutoffs
The cutoff of DU is basically the minimum marks at which candidates are considered qualified for the document verification process. Delhi university cutoffs are released on the basis of a number of seats available in each college of the varsity for different courses.
Once the varsity releases the cutoff list, candidates need to calculate their percentage of ‘best of four’ subjects and meet the DU cutoff of the course in which they are seeking admission.
In 2020, Delhi University had released a total of 9 DU cutoff 2020 for various courses offered under the streams of Humanities, Commerce and Science streams. University of Delhi had released 9th Cut off 2020 on January 2, 2021 and 8th cut off list 2020 (NCWEB) on December 26, 2020.
Changes in DU Admission Process 2021
Considering the challenges that emerged last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for this academic year 2021-22, for the benefit of the students, the University has decided to retain the Eligibility Criteria as last year. The University has also decided that there will be no change in the Registration fees for Merit-Based and Entrance-Based admissions. Centralised UG admissions will be done through one Registration-cum-Application form. All Departments/ Colleges will use the same Registration-cum-Application Form for admissions and the candidates will not have to fill any other form.

DU Admissions 2021 through Entrance Exams
In PG and a few UG courses, DU admissions are done on the basis of candidates’ performance in entrance exam. DU entrance exam application fee 2021 is likely to be Rs 750 for General/ OBC category and Rs 350 for SC/ ST/ PwD category.

DU Admission Process 2021 through Entrance Exams
Delhi University admission process for candidates appearing for an entrance exam is as follows:
- DU admission form: Firstly, candidates need to fill DU application form 2021 in online mode on the official website of the varsity.
- Admit card: Once the registration process is over, candidates need to download the DU admit card 2021 for their respective exam from the official website.
- Entrance exam: Next, candidates need to appear for the entrance exam for which they have applied.
- Result: DU result for DUET/ DU LLB Entrance Exam/ DU JAT is released on the official website of the varsity. Candidates can check their results by logging in to their registered accounts.
Candidates clearing the entrance exam can finally secure admission at Delhi University in their applied course. Note: For some courses, DU admission process through entrance exams might include other steps also such as appearing for group discussion and interview rounds.
