AP LAWCET Exam Pattern 2026: Mode, Sectional Weightage, No. of Questions, Important Topics

AP LAWCET 2026 exam will be conducted in English and Telugu medium.  There will be objective-type questions, that is, each question will carry four options. Candidates will have to select the one correct answer. The exam will be held from 2:30 pm to 4 pm (subject to change). 

The exam pattern of the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET exam includes the following three sections:

Section A: General Knowledge and Mental Ability (30 questions, 30 marks)

Section B: General Knowledge (30 questions, 30 marks)

Section C: Aptitude for the Study of Law (30 questions, 30 marks)

Each question has four multiple-choice options, and only one option is correct. The exam is conducted online and has a duration of 90 minutes. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

• The aptitude for the study of law section tests the candidate's basic knowledge of legal concepts and reasoning.
• The current affairs section tests the candidate's awareness of recent events and developments in India and around the world. 
• The general knowledge section tests the candidate's knowledge of a variety of subjects, including history, geography, Science and technology, economics, and Indian culture and heritage.
• Mental ability in entrance exams refers to the candidate's ability to think critically, solve problems, and reason logically. It is a broad term that encompasses a variety of skills, including Logical reasoning, Quantitative reasoning, Verbal reasoning, and Analytical reasoning. 

Questions in the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET Exam are broadly asked from three subjects: General Knowledge and Mental Ability, Current Affairs and Aptitude for the Study of Law. Thus, Andhra Pradesh LAWCET candidates need to cover these four subjects while preparing for the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET exam. They need to focus on the preparation of the Aptitude for Study of Law subject because it carries the maximum weightage of 60 marks in the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET test. The other two subjects, General Knowledge and Mental Ability and Current Affairs will each carry 30 marks.

The syllabus for Andhra Pradesh LAWCET covers the following three important sections as follows:

• Aptitude for the Study of Law: This section asks questions on legal terms, concepts, contract, torts, etc.
• Current Affairs and Mental Ability: This section has questions from history, geography, economic, science and technology, etc.
• General Knowledge: This section covers important topics from national and international importance, economics trends, legal current affairs, etc.

To prepare for the Aptitude for the study of Law subject, candidates must first collect its important resources. Aptitude for the study of law analysis the person's ability to study law. It includes a number of skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving, research, etc. The preparation for the study of Law section should be strategised and must include familiarity with the concepts, use of best resources, and practice solving the question papers. 

The Andhra Pradesh LAWCET question paper will be available in Telugu and English . Candidates can select the language medium to take the exam while filling out the application form. The mode of the Andhra Pradesh PGLCET exam is English only. Question papers of both entrance tests will have multiple choice-based questions. The total number of questions will be 120. Each question will carry 1 mark. There will be no negative marking.

The exam authority conducted the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET in a Computer-Based Test mode, where each candidate appearing for the entrance exam was allotted a computer system to attempt the examination. The CBT is a form of online examination. Despite being an online exam, the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET is conducted across different centres in Andhra Pradesh. In 2023, Andhra Pradesh LAWCET will be conducted at 36 regional centres in 24 districts of Andhra Pradesh. No, even though the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET examination is conducted by the same body for both courses, yet, the question papers are different. The Andhra Pradesh LAWCET 3-year LL.B. Question paper and Andhra Pradesh LAWCET 5-year LL.B. Question paper contain questions from three sections: 1) General Knowledge and Mental Ability, 2) Current Affairs and 3) Aptitude for Law. However, questions in the two question papers are different. The difficulty level of the question papers for the two types of law courses will be different. The Andhra Pradesh PGLCET question paper will be more difficult.
