No, there is no negative marking in the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET exam. This means students can attempt all questions. No mark will be deducted for a wrong answer or response. Thus, candidates will receive marks equal to the correct answers given by them in the entrance examination.

Questions in the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET Exam are broadly asked from three subjects: General Knowledge and Mental Ability, Current Affairs and Aptitude for the Study of Law. Thus, Andhra Pradesh LAWCET candidates need to cover these four subjects while preparing for the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET exam. They need to focus on the preparation of the Aptitude for Study of Law subject because it carries the maximum weightage of 60 marks in the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET test. The other two subjects, General Knowledge and Mental Ability and Current Affairs will each carry 30 marks.

AP LAWCET 2027 Vs AP PGLCET 2027 Pattern

The AP LAWCET 2027 exam is conducted for admission to 3-year and 5-year LLB programs. Meanwhile, the AP PGLCET exam is held for admission to the two-year LLM program. The exam conducting body releases a separate exam pattern for the AP PGLCET. Here are some of the major differences in exam patterns between the two exams.

  • The LLM syllabus also includes 120 multiple-choice questions. But the distribution of questions is different:
  1. Part A - Jurisprudence 20, Constitutional Law 20; Total of 40 questions 
  2. Part B - Public International Law 16, Mercantile Law 16, Labour Law 16, Crimes and Torts 16, and IPR and Other Laws 16; Total of 80 questions 
  • The AP PGLCET 2027 question paper will only be set in English; Telugu is not an option
  • A single entrance exam is conducted for admission to all LLM courses.

No, even though the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET examination is conducted by the same body for both courses, yet, the question papers are different. The Andhra Pradesh LAWCET 3-year LL.B. Question paper and Andhra Pradesh LAWCET 5-year LL.B. Question paper contain questions from three sections: 1) General Knowledge and Mental Ability, 2) Current Affairs and 3) Aptitude for Law. However, questions in the two question papers are different. The difficulty level of the question papers for the two types of law courses will be different. The Andhra Pradesh PGLCET question paper will be more difficult.

Q:   Is it necessary to fill APLAWCET application form 2026 if I have CLAT score?

Filling the AP LAWCET 2026 form not needed if planning only for National Law Universities (NLUs) or private colleges that take CLAT scores. But if aiming for law colleges in Andhra Pradesh, then the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET form must be filled. Both CLAT and AP LAWCET are different admission ways.
