Kunal Badesra, AIR 8 AILET 2018

With a score of 79.5/150, Kunal Badesra secured AIR 8 in AILET 2018. “I am from a small town you wouldn't even have heard. It's called Naraul. My dad is a lecturer, and that always pushed me to be better in studies. I came to Jaipur in 11th standard, and luckily came to the best people in town. I owe my entire success to CLAT Prep”, he shared.

Kunal worked very hard to crack All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). A student of CBSE board, Kunal completed his Class 12 from Arts stream from Jayshree Periwal High School. Talking about his hobbies, he was quoted as saying, “My hobbies are binge-watching movies, reading and too cliche but yes, playing cricket”.

In a candid interview with Shiksha, Kunal shares his prep strategy, success mantras, future plans, and a lot more. Go through the complete interview below:

Q. Congratulations! Did you expect to be the topper of AILET 2018?

A.

Thanks a ton! I worked really very hard to achieve this feat. No, I certainly did not expect such a rank. I knew I was going to get selected in AILET but AIR 8 came a real surprise.

I am thankful to everybody who helped me get through.

Q. Was NLU Delhi your first preference?

A.

I really adore NLU Delhi. But my first preference is NLSIU Bangalore.

Q. Whom do you attribute your success to?

A.

I attribute my success to CLAT PREP, Jaipur. The institute not only helped me develop my educational skills, but other important aspects too. We always had an interactive and competitive environment. The friendly faculty helped getting the final bits.

Q. Could you tell us your preparation strategy that helped you crack AILET exam?

A.

I think sheer hard-work if not smart work will help anybody who is serious for AILET. Talking particularly my strategy was to give a lot of mock tests, and work on the unexpected parts AILET is fond of.

Q. What study plan did you follow for this exam?

A.

I studied hard without wasting time upon pondering what rank I might get. And those extra hours led to achieving this feat.

Q. How did you deal with your strengths and your weaknesses while preparing for the exam?

A.

My most simple strategy was that anybody could score on their strengths, but very less people have the courage to face their weaknesses. So, I pushed myself to become one of them.

Q. Did you refer any books for the exam?

A.

I feel any books available in the market for CLAT/AILET would suffice.

Q. What other law entrance exams did you take?

A.

I took CLAT too. However, AILET has always had the tag of the most difficult and unexpected papers for undergraduate admissions in law stream.

Q. How was the experience of taking CLAT different from that of AILET?

A.

CLAT was quite easier, and kind of expected. Apart from the technical glitches faced by everyone the paper was moderate as compared to AILET.

Q. Was law always your first preference?

A.

No. My dream is to crack UPSC, but I think CLAT/AILET might get me into colleges that’ll give me a head start from my competitors.

Q. Any tips for students who are planning to take the exam next year?
