Why is a Strong Preparation Strategy Essential for the JMI Entrance Exam 2025?
Nearly 1 to 1.5 lakh students from across the country participate in JMI University Admissions every year. The reputation and popularity of this prestigious institute attract a huge number of applicants. The number of seats available for the programmes offered at JMI is extremely low when compared to the number of applicants. This makes the JMI Entrance Exam one of the most competitive entrance tests out there. Every mark matters and can be deciding of whether or not a student gets a seat.
The poll survey above indicates that only 25% of students who have applied for the JMI 2025 admissions are confident in their preparation. 27% are still preparing, while almost half of the applicants are underprepared or not prepared at all. A strong preparation strategy for the JMI Entrance Exam 2025 will help ease the anxiety caused by the competition and enormity of the exam and streamline the efforts of the students.
Jamia Millia Islamia offers a two-year MA programme to the stduents across more than 30 specialisations. It is a two-year programme spread over four semesters, admission to which is based on a candidate’s performance in JMI Entrance Exam. The final merit list for admission to MA at JMI is prepared on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the entrance test, seat reservation and relaxation criteria of JMI. The application fee for MA range from INR 550 - INR 700 for different courses and interested candidates can apply online on the official website of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Many candidates have scored well by only practicing sample papers, but that is not the ideal way of JMI preparation for all candidates. To crack the JMI exam, the candidates must prepare with the help of books and tutorials for conceptual clarity and then move to practice sample papers. Many candidates who have attempted the JMI exam before, can practice only sample papers and score high because they already have conceptual clarity. However, those tempting the JMI for the first time must give equal importance to both books and sample papers.

How to Prepare for JMI Entrance Exam 2025 Last Minute?
Follow the steps mentioned below to streamline your JMI preparations last minute.
Step 1: Be Aware of the Syllabus - Once you have gone through the syllabus and you know the topics that must be covered, you can set an effective preparation plan into action.
Step 2: Prepare a Timetable - Determine the number of days left for the JMI Entrance Test for your programme and divide the syllabus into those days.
Step 3: Create a Daily Study Plan - Decide the number of hours you will spend studying to prepare for the JMI 2025 entrance exam. Now divide these hours into two. Dedicate a big chunk of your time to studying your syllabus topics from scratch. Create short notes when you do so. The second part of your daily preparation must be dedicated to solving questions. Get hold of a trusted guidebook for your chosen subject (Google, check Amazon) and/ or look up mock tests and older JMI question papers.
Jamia Millia Islamia admission to UG and PG courses is entrance exams based. The university accepts JMI entrance exam, CUET and JEE Main for admission. Further, to be eligible for admission, students also need to pass Class 12 with 50% for admission to UG courses and a graduation degree with 50-55% aggregate for admission to PG courses.
Step 4: Revise - At the end of each day of studying, refer to your short notes and revise what you have studied earlier. Revision is key for retention. You can also take up revisions at the beginning of each day.
Step 5: Take Breaks - Incorporate small breaks in your study sessions. Take a walk, listen to music, get a snack, or whatever helps you relax. This helps you come back more energised and interested. You can also set alarms to end your breaks so that you do not get carried away.
Why is Solving Questions, Mock Tests and Older JMI Question Papers Most Beneficial?
Most students preparing for the JMI Entrance Exam resort to solving topic-wise questions, mock tests and JMI question papers from previous cycles of the exam to strengthen their preparations. This year, this strategy is employed by only a fraction of applicants.
Here’s how you can benefit from solving question papers, sample papers and mock tests -
- You get a better idea of the JMI exam pattern. The pattern usually varies from programme to programme. It’s only after you have seen a bunch of question papers, you get a clear understanding of the pattern.
- You can time yourself while solving these papers and work on your speed.
- You can evaluate your progress by checking the papers you have solved and work more on the areas that you are having trouble scoring marks in.
- By solving sample papers and older papers, you get the idea of the style of questions and trends that are being followed in the entrance exam.
