Mystory@Anandita Ghosh

I had a decent score in my senior secondary and thus was free to choose any subject I wanted. My passion for Mathematics made by subjects’ choice obvious. I opted for the subjects I had a good understanding of and hence took Science with Statistics as my additional.

My current course was a decision which happened after one year of hard work. Also since its entrance exams involved topics and subjects which have always been my strengths, so I had the confidence that I’ll be able to clear them. The choice of this college was purely based on merit.

Choosing IIT Roorkee as my host for management studies is one of the most important decisions I have ever taken in my life. And I feel immense proud in saying that I do not regret it.

How I cracked college admission

Most of my preparation was through Android applications available online. This helped me prepare on the go and saved a lot of time.

Most MBA institutes in India mostly take CAT (Common Admission Test) scores for granting admission, though a lot of private institutes do conduct their own tests. I gave only CAT.

I joined T.I.M.E classes for preparation. Since most of my schedule was already packed with my BTech classes, I hardly had time to attend T.I.M.E classroom coaching. Most of my preparation was through Android applications available online. This helped me prepare on the go and saved a lot of time. This also helped me improve my efficiency at mental calculations since while traveling I didn’t usually have the liberty of using any written material.

I tried only for IITs, and two other private B-Schools in which I got selected but I chose IIT Roorkee over them.

My college experience

I felt an urge to go beyond my previously honed skills of civil engineering and look forward to being a techno-manager. So, here I am at IIT Roorkee to pursue a career in Marketing with eyes full of dreams.

IIT Roorkee is a fun place to be, with its vast campus, ample facilities and ever engaging schedule. MBA, which is usually a hectic course, becomes enjoyable here with all activities crafted in such a way that it becomes a delight to be buzzing all day. Every moment of our time spent on campus is planned, interesting and stimulating. Media-cell, classes, live projects, events, friends and food occupy my life at DoMS.

I am not quite a sports person but I don’t mind watching all the sports activity going on in our campus every now and then.  If given a chance, I would surely like to take out time to pursue my dancing lessons further.
My experience at college so far has been a great learning experience. It has taught me a great deal about managing my time and resources efficiently. The institute doesn’t just impart knowledge, it imparts wisdom. It just isn’t a course, it’s a transformation process. From being an average youngster to standing in line with the most elite, is a privilege that this institute has given me.
And, as far as classes are concerned I feel marketing classes attract me the most, may be because my initial attraction to the field of marketing stems from the fact that I find it to be a very dynamic and creative field.

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.
