Students’ Speaks: Steps to follow if you have not scored well in CAT
If your attempt in CAT doesn’t give you the desired result then it doesn’t mean that you are not made for MBA. Giving CAT and studying MBA are two different things.
See, failure doesn’t mean you have lost or you will be put into unsuccessful category. Actually failure means there is scope for you to do better. There are many exams you can attempt for some of the renowned MBA colleges. For instance, SNAP, XLRI, CMAT, MAT, GMAT, LPUNEST MBA, etc.
I mentioned LPUNEST MBA because MBA in Lovely Professional University (LPU) is in the growing phase, they are in the top private universities for MBA. Symbiosis is also in the topmost private university for MBA, which is known especially for their MBA courses. And if you are interested in MBA Human Resource then opt for Xavier Institute, Jamshedpur.
If you are trying to give the second attempt in the CAT for coming year then there are many steps that you should do:
- Dedicate your time equally on each section of the syllabus that is QA, DILR, VA and Comprehension. You should use reasonable materials for preparation purpose. Preparation from mock paper will quite helpful for better results.
- For better results, start focusing on basics that will clear your concepts. Clearing basics will be quite be helpful to score more because most of the questions are directly from basics. Every year, the QA question in the CAT exam is quite conceptual. So, you should focus more on QA.
- Contacting with good coaching institute will be helpful for the guidance because mentorship is necessary at every stage. And create a good timetable and focus accordingly.
- Time management is necessary for this exam, cover your syllabus at least one and a half month. This way you will get more time for revision. And for revision purpose, revision according to your syllabus, don’t read extra.
- And at last, don’t lose hope. One unsuccessful attempt doesn’t determine your career. The only thing matter in your life is your confidence. All the best.

Both SRM and LPU are good universities, but if you look at overall exposure, campus ecosystem, and practical learning opportunities, LPU often has an edge. You just need to have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Maths from a recognised board. Admission is mainly based on LPUNEST, which also helps you get scholarships. Once you qualify, you can complete the admission process online or visit the campus for guidance.

Placements for B.Tech Civil Engineering at LPU are quite decent and improving every year. The university brings in a mix of core civil companies and allied sectors, and students who stay active with internships, projects, and training usually do well. The average package is decent for civil engineer

If you think mechanical engineering is all dusty books and boring lectures, think again. At LPU, it's actually pretty solid. The course is more hands-on than people expect, with proper workshops, CAD/CAM, automation, EV basics, and real project work instead of just a theory grind. Add internships, i
