XAT 2024 Student Reactions

Anjali Patel

“XAT 2024 exam was quite difficult for me. Quants section was moderate to difficult, Verbal Ability was too lengthy. Decision Making questions were doable. Decision Making questions were based on companies and management topics. Verbal Ability has 6 comprehensions and grammar questions. In Quants Arithmetic and Algebra dominated the section. I attempt the topic on social media. “

Q:   How many questions were there in XAT 2025?
A:

As per the latest XAT exam pattern, there will be 95 questions in XAT 2025 in MCQ format.

  • Verbal Ability section of XAT will have 26 questions
  • Decision Making section of XAT will have 21 questions
  • Quantitative Ability section will have 28 questions
  • GK section will have 20 questions

There will be no essay writing this year. It will be conducted during the selection process.

It is not mandatory to solve all the questions. Candidates should solve only those questions which they can solve correctly as there is negative marking in XAT. During the exam preparation, focus on the chapters from which majority of the questions are added. This will help them in achieving the sectional and overall cut offs are required.

Q:   Is there in any change in XAT exam 2025?
A:

No change has been announced in the XAT exam. The test will be administered just like yesterday. The duration of the exam will be 210 minutes and the questions will be in MCQ format. There will be a total of 100 questions on Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge.

There will be one essay-based question too. XAT 2025 will have a sectional time limit which means candidates will have to complete a section of the test within the given time limit.

Marking scheme is also the same as last year. For each correct answer, candidates will get 1 mark and for each incorrect attempt, 0.25 marks will be deducted. The XAT result will be based on several correct and incorrect entries. The essay will be evaluated for PI selection process only.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in the XAT exam?
A:

Yes, the XAT exam has negative marking of -0.25 marks for wrong attempt. Unanswered questions have no negative marking but if there are 8 consecutive unanswered questions, 0.10 marks will be deducted. Thus, the candidates must select questions to solve very carefully in the XAT exam. They should solve only those questions which they know they can solve accurately. The XAT exam has sectional time limit too, so you may not want to waste time on a question that you cannot solve accurately. You stand to lose both time and marks. So be careful in selecting questions in the XAT exam.  The sectional cut off for XAT is usually 80 percent accuracy. Practice a lot of mock tests to develop this skill.

“XAT 2024 was moderate. Verbal and Reasoning section was moderate. Quants and DI questions were also moderate, but in Decision Making it will depend upon your choice of answer. In essay writing, I attempted the topic on social media.”

“XAT 2024 difficulty level was same as previous years. Section wise, Verbal passages were dense this time and Decision Making was easier as compared to previous years. For essay, there was one on social media which I wrote. I faced technical difficulties during exam. My mouse was not working properly, I asked them to change it so after sometime they came, stopped my exam and then changed it. The expected cut offs will be same as previous years. “

Kanishka Garg

“Quant was a little difficult but Decision Making was fine. For me Quants was on the difficult side, for others it may not be. In comparison to XAT 2024, CAT 2023 was tougher.”

“XAT 2024 was not that tough for me. For me, the Quants section was a bit difficult but the rest of the sections were okay. I chose the social media topic in Essay Writing section. I hope I get selected, and get 90 percentile.”

Aprajita

“My exam was okay, but the test centre management, I would say was not great. It was all over the place and it was actually pretty chaotic. I had to change my seat 2-3 times and I ended up losing 10-15 minutes of my exam. Towards, the end of the exam, they make people stay, so that everyone can complete their exam, but here there was nothing like that. I did not get time compensation for losing the time.

The exam was moderate in terms of difficulty level. In VA section, there were some passages that I found difficult. I chose the topic on technology."
