BITS Pilani VC Ramgopal Rao Receives VLSI Lifetime Achievement Award 2024

At the 37th International Conference on VLSI Design in Kolkata, Professor Ramgopal Rao, the Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, was honoured with the VSI Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 by the VLSI Society of India. He was awarded in acknowledgement of his exceptional contributions to advancing the VLSI design and semiconductor ecosystem in India. 

His immense dedication towards research in semiconductors and VLSI design research and education has laid a robust foundation, playing a pivotal role in positioning the country as a formidable "semiconductor nation." He further added, “I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to India's journey towards becoming a strong 'VLSI Nation,' and I dedicate this award to everyone who has been part of my journey so far."

The awards also reaffirm his dedication to advancing education, research, and innovation in VLSI design and the semiconductor ecosystem. He said, "I am deeply honored to receive the VSI Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024. This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective efforts of my students and collaborators over the past 25 years.”

A distinguished panel comprising a nine-member jury representing prominent personalities in the global semiconductor industry and academic organizations collectively decided to award the VSI Lifetime Achievement Award 2024. This recognition stems from the leadership team of the VLSI Society of India, the organizing committee of the VLSID-2024 Conference, and the steering committee of the VLSI Society of India.
