IIM Sirmaur five-day leadership training program curriculum also addresses critical topics like resource allocation, inclusive learning, and innovation in education. The objective is to empower these school heads so they can subsequently serve as master trainers for other teachers throughout the state.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur has officially commenced a five-day leadership training program for school heads from Himachal Pradesh. The program, inaugurated online by Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma from Shimla, aims to enhance educational standards across the state.

Training for 52 School Leaders

The initiative focuses on training 52 school heads from Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, and Mandi districts in its first phase. This training is a vital component of the Samagra Shiksha School Leadership Development Programme, designed to bolster the capabilities of school leaders in key areas such as public leadership, time management, motivation, communication, and stress management.

Comprehensive Curriculum

The curriculum also addresses critical topics like resource allocation, inclusive learning, and innovation in education. The objective is to empower these school heads so they can subsequently serve as master trainers for other teachers throughout the state.

Commitment to Educational Improvement

Sirmaur IIM Director, Prof. Prafulla Agnihotri, expressed pride in the institute’s involvement, noting that this initiative represents a significant contribution to enhancing educational quality in Himachal Pradesh. He assured ongoing support for the state's efforts to elevate educational standards.

Addressing Declining Education Rankings

During the inauguration, Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma emphasized the urgency of this training, particularly in light of Himachal Pradesh's declining education rankings in national surveys. Currently, the state ranks 18th in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) and 21st in the National Achievement Survey.

Sharma described the collaboration with IIM Sirmaur as a historic step that will significantly impact the quality of education in the state. This initiative aligns with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's announcement in the state budget to implement a comprehensive school leadership development program.

In total, IIM Sirmaur is set to train 200 school heads under this program, with the state government committed to enhancing education through teacher training and exposure tours to prestigious institutions like IIM. The ultimate goal is to reverse the current decline in educational performance and foster a brighter future for students in Himachal Pradesh.
