We had practicals almost every day which helped us to get hands-on experiences.

Placements: Placement opportunities are not yet available at Asutosh College in the Department of Microbiology. I'm not sure about the other departments but our professors are planning something for the future. Professors are arranging alumni meets where they are trying to connect with different alumni from different parts of the world. This would help to create a placement cell in the future.

Infrastructure: Well-maintained laboratories with specialized equipment and air-conditioned classrooms. The main building has been renovated. College canteen is good . Food quality is great and biryani is available as well. I'm not sure about the hostel because my home is in Kolkata. Some of my batchmates stayed in hostels. As far as I know, hostel facilities are not bad and the quality of food is better than the other places. At Asutosh College, there are two libraries one is in the main building and other one in the annex (ACTC). In the library, a wide range of books are available.

Faculty: Teachers are extremely helpful and they are always available to clear doubts and other problems related to the subject. They are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Semester exams are not difficult if someone starts studying from the beginning. But one needs to have in-depth knowledge regarding the topic in order to deal with analytical questions. College conducts internal exams usually one month before the semester.

Other: Department of Microbiology is one the best departments at Asutosh College. I chose this subject because I had a profound interest to know more about the microbial world as well as the diseases related to it. There's always something happening at Asutosh College with a lot of events throughout the year. Extracurricular activities are also available but they aren't compulsory. If anyone wants to join, they can.

I am satisfied with the faculty members and infrastructure.

Placements: There is no placement cell in our college. TCS company visited our campus and offered BPO jobs. The average salary package offered was Rs. 10,000 per month. Maybe 1% of student applied for placements. The college does not provide an internship for students. Placements cell is not useful at all for the students of the college.

Infrastructure: The college provides facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, a library, and medical facilities. Football and cricket matches are organised yearly. Lab facilities were good. A canteen was available, but it was far from the Annex building. Hostel rooms are decent. I did not face any infrastructure related issue during my tenure at the college.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are qualified, knowledgeable, helpful and student-friendly. They use electronic media like powerpoint and conventional methods to teach students in the class. There are 4 permanent faculty members, and rest are guest lecturers, and they are teaching for all three-year students.

Other: Fest organised by the college are good. The campus surroundings are good.

Candidates who has passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination is eligible to apply provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying examination. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education /Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. Candidate must have aggregate 50%, Biology/Biotechnology: 45% and passed in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics However, Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST or OBC Community must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate.
