The university facilitates a monthly fellowship of INR 8,000 to all the full-time PhD scholars. Pondicherry University offers a number of scholarships to deserving students with the motive of extending financial aid and promoting educational opportunities. Some of the top scholarships offered by Pondicherry University are listed below:
- Merit scholarships: The first three candidates who secure the highest percentage of marks in the PG admission entrance examination are eligible for the award of a Merit Scholarship worth INR 2,000, INR 1,500 and INR 1,000 per month, respectively for the first semester. For the subsequent semesters, the merit scholarship at the same rate is awarded to the first three candidates who secured the highest marks in the previous semester.
- Merit-Cum-Means scholarship: A total of 20% of the students in each PG degree programme are eligible for the award of this scholarship. The scholarship is for meritorious candidates with an annual parental income of less than INR 2.5 lakh. The amount of the scholarship is INR 750 per month. For the first semester, a scholarship is sanctioned on entrance exam marks. Besides, for the award of a scholarship, the candidates should also fulfil the following conditions: should secure at least 70% of the attendance every month and should pass in all papers registered for each semester.
- Scholarship for MSc Marine Biology & Disaster Management: All selected candidates are awarded a scholarship of INR 1000 per month to study these courses at Port Blair, Andamans.
- Scholarship for MTech Computational Biology: All selected candidates are awarded a scholarship of INR 12,500 per month.
- N.B.H.M Scholarship: The National Board for Higher Mathematics, Mumbai (Department of Atomic Energy) provides scholarships for those students who clear the NBHM examination.

National Testing Agency commenced CUET 2026 registration on January 03, 2026. Soon after the release of the CUET notification candidates candidates can check the important dates pertaining to CUET 2026. The last date for CUET 2026 registration is January 30, 2026
Candidats will be required to fill the CUET application form within the given time frame, failing which no request for extension of the CUET registration last date will be entertained. It has a total collection of 4.97 lakh prints, e-resources and 38,011 e-journals.
- Hostels: Pondicherry University has 17 hostels on campus, out of which 11 are for boys, five for female students/ research scholars and one for foreign students. SC/ ST students and female students are exempted from payment of room rent. Differently-abled students are provided free accommodation and food. The University has well-furnished AC and non-AC facilities for foreign students to stay in CV Raman Hostel for boys and Madame Curie Hostel for girls.

Yes, there are 22 hostels present on the university campus. 14 are for boys and 8 for girls. The rooms are on a sharing basis, with two to four students in one room. Hostel rooms have basic facilities, such as beds, chairs, and cupboards, and contain a dining hall, a library, a games room, and a laundry room for the residents. Hostel accommodation is only on a first-come, first-served basis and is reserved for students coming from distant places, and for those who are pursuing certain courses, such as medicine and engineering, etc.
Yes, Pondicherry University has several provisions for differently abled candidates. Firstly, such candidates are exempted from payment of entire fees. Moreover, 5% of seats in each course are reserved for differently abled candidates. Such candidates must submit a certificate from a government hospital indicating the extent of physical disability and also the extent to which the disability hampers the candidate in pursuing his/her studies. Moreover, all candidates who are differently abled and passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of the percentage of marks obtained.
