AMU Highlights 2025
AMU was established in Aligarh, UP around 1920. AMU is UGC approved and is A+ NAAC accredited. The university is also a member of AUI. AMU has been ranked tenth by NIRF ranking 2025 under the 'Universities' category.
AMU offers about 300 courses at UG, PG, PhD and diploma levels. AMU courses are offered in the streams of Science, Humanities, Medicine, Engineering, Management etc. Distance education is provided through CDOE. AMU course admissions are both entrance and merit based. The university accepts national and state level entrance exams such as AMU Entrance Exam, NATA, CUET, etc.
This university has 37,327 students, 1,686 teachers, and 5,610 non-teaching staff available. The university is sprawls over 1,155 acres of land, with most students and staff residing within campus. AMU has a pre-defined set of eligiblity criteria for admission to the various BSc specialisations that it provides. The eligibility crietra vary across the specialisations. In general, a candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% in Class 12 with relevant Science subjects to be eligible for BSc admission at AMU. The relevant subjects may vary depending upon the choice of specialisation. Further, candidates must not be more than 24 years old as of July 01 in the year of admission.
Aligarh Muslim University offers a three-year full-time BSc course at the undergraduate level. Apart from the BSc course, the University also offers BSc (Hons) courses. Yes, Aligarh Muslim University offers a five-year, undergraduate course in the field of law. The total seat intake of AMU BA LLB, Faculty of Law is 120. Other than the Faculty of Law, AMU Center, Malappuram and AMU Center, Murshidabad, also offers BA LLB course with a total seat intake of 60 each. Hence, the total seat intake of AMU BA LLB is 240.

AMU Admission Process and Dates 2025
The mode of Aligarh Muslim University course admissions is online. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The accepted entrance exams are the AMU Entrance Exam, CUET, and others. Candidates willing to get admission must first visit the Aligarh Muslim University official website, which is www.amu.ac.in/. Select the course and pay the total application fee. Fill out and submit the application form with the required information. The documents that must be submitted at the time of physical reporting for provisional admission completion at AMU are as follows:

Aligarh Muslim University offers a four-year full-time BTech course at the undergraduate level. AMU offers BTech across ten specialisations including Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, CSE, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, among others. AMU conducts Aligarh Muslim University Engineering Entrance Examination (AMUEEE) for BTech admission and it is not very tough for candidates already appeared for JEE Mains. Students who have prepared well for the board examination or JEE Mains can easily crack the AMU entrance test for BTech admission.
Aligarh Muslim University BTech admission is based on AMUEEE. This process can only be conducted in online mode. Following the entrance exam, candidates must register for the AMUEEE counselling. Candidates who secure the cut-off ranks decided by the university for various counselling rounds will be allotted seats for BTech at the university.
For Aligarh Muslim University BTech admission, students are required to pass Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 50% in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates with a minimum aggregate of 50% in a Diploma in Engineering are also eligible for BTech admission at AMU.
Aligarh Muslim University BA admission is a multi-step process. It starts with online application. For this, candidates can visit the university's admission portal on its official website. BA admission at the university is completely entrance-based. Hence, the next step is to appear for an entrance exam. Depending upon the BA specialisation chosen by a candidate, the admission is provided based on candidates' marks in either AMU Entrance Exam or CUET-UG. Based on the entrance exam scores, AMU will release a merit list of selected students. As a final step, selected students need to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

AMU offers MSc as a two-year postgraduate programme offered in the full-time mode. To be eligible to pursue MSc at AMU, candidates must have scored at least 55% in Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline. Hence, a candidate scoring less that 50% in their graduation degree is not eligible to apply for the programme. Such candidates can pursue MSc at some other college or university. They can also check out the colleges offering online MSc courses.
AMU BA tuition fee ranges between INR 25,500 and INR 40,500. The exact amount depends on the choice of specialisation. The other components included in total AMU fees are hostel fees, medical insurance, mess and other security deposits, etc. It must be noted that the mentioned fee has been sourced from the official website/sanctioning body.
