Review of Guwahati University.
Placements: Before the 2023 batch, the highest placements were in CS, but after the 2023 batch, placements have decreased due to many issues, including a lack of projects and layoffs in tech companies. The highest number of students were hired by Cognizant and Capgemini, with 12 students receiving packages of 3.8 LPA. The lowest salary was 1.8 LPA from a local company. More students were placed through off-campus opportunities; I obtained an EY internship through off-campus means. The highest package in our class is TCS Digital at 7.5 LPA, but 60 to 70% of students were placed, with fewer placed in MNCs. Work locations are mostly in Kolkata and Noida. The top role is Software Engineer. It is very hard to get a job in CS in the current situation.
Infrastructure: The college campus is nice, and the infrastructure is also good. When I was new, I got confused because the campus is big. My suggestion is to place a college map at the entrance, as it is difficult to navigate to classrooms and washrooms at the beginning. The college has a gym free of cost, and there are various facilities to play sports, such as a basketball court, volleyball court, and football fields. The central library is the biggest library in the North East and has a wide range of books. There are many hostels, about 10-12 for boys. I stay in AT-9 hostel. The mess food is decent; like in other hostels, we cannot expect much, but it is more affordable than staying outside. In the hostel, we celebrate many events like Diwali and Holi. The hostel feels like my second home; I spend a lot of time there, and it has taught me valuable things in life.
Faculty: GU faculty are highly professional, but sometimes lectures feel boring, and they are very strict. The teaching is like that of an ordinary teacher, with no creativity, and backbenchers often sleep in lectures. The M.Sc. CS course is for two years, divided into four semesters. The course curriculum includes algorithms, data analysis, Python, C, Java programming languages, web development, React JS, Node JS, etc. It aims to make us industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult, with strict checking of papers. Passing requires 50% in internals and 35% in term exams, and more than 85 to 90% of students pass the exams.
Other: I am the Guwahati Village President, and the university is near my home. The best thing about the course is that it is a CS course. India is leading in IT firms, so hopefully, projects will come, and like me, many will get opportunities.

Our college provides good infrastructure and all the basic facilities are available.
Placements: Direct internships are not available. Many companies hire students indirectly through various examinations. Many students got placed in various companies. Few students are also doing internships at this university. Overall, it is a good institution.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching technique is good with digital classes. The course curriculum is relevant to make students ready for the industry. Semester exams are not difficult. The pass percentage is 97%.
Other: The campus environment is good for studies.

GU has good faculty members and infrastructure.
Placements: Placements are not available at GU. Overall, they teach well and give good knowledge. Companies don't come for placements but one can apply for them and can score well. One can even pursue higher studies like Ph.D. and get a stipend and earn.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good enough at GU. Good Wi-Fi connection and labs are also good. They provide decent facilities and a lab in good condition. Hostels are good enough. The court is also good enough to gain knowledge. Overall, it has fine structure. It provides good food also.
Faculty: Teachers at GU are helpful and highly qualified. Semester exams are a bit difficult. Exams are held every month and they take 2 exams per day. They prepare the students well to face the outside world. The pass percentage is 30% and it is mandatory to have 75% attendance.
Other: Events are amazing at our university.

The faculty members are helpful. The placement cell needs to be developed.
Placements: There are many companies such as Wipro, Zaloni; HP is coming every year. It has its placement cell. Many of our seniors got a job through college placements. We didn't get any internship yet. Many of our seniors got a salary of 3.5 lakhs per annum.
Infrastructure: The college has its internet connection, 24x7 electricity and students can read books in the departmental library. It also has seminar hall. Quality of labs and classrooms are good. It does not have its canteen. However, we have many canteens on the university campus. We have 23 hostels which contain 3 research scholar hostels, two law hostels and 18 post-graduate hostels.
Faculty: My experience with faculty was good. The teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. However, course curriculum is not updated. The method of teaching needs to be developed. We did not get any industry exposure yet. The course curriculum was very outdated and it needs to be upgraded.

Dear Atikhna, Since you don't have maths in your academics, you are ineligible to apply for M.Sc because in order to get admission, you need to have at least 60%-70% in class 12th science and in graduation also.
