Candidates applying for the BSc programme need to pay some amount of the tuition fees to finalise their admission into the institution. The total tuition fee of Gauhati University BSc is INR 48,000 to 1.4 Lacs depending on the specialisation and the affiliated college chosen. Guwahati University offers 100+ UG, PG Diploma Certificate and doctoral courses. Additionally, it also has 340+ affiliated colleges that offer UG and PG courses in the faculty members of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Engineering. It also has an Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) to offer distance learning programmes to the students. Gauhati University admission process is completely online; for all PG courses, it is subject to candidates' performance in the Offline Entrance Test, conducted by the university. For a few courses, such as BTech and MBA, it also accepts national/state-level entrance exams for admission like JEE Main, GATE, and others. Candidates must study the GATE exam pattern, attempt GATE question papers, and hence prepare well in advance for admission.

Gauhati University recognises both state and central board scores for admission into the BSc programme. Some of the boards include CBSE, AHSEC, ISCE, ISC etc. Candidates can apply for admission at the university if they have secure a minimum aggregate of 40% from a state or central recognised board. Yes, Gauhati University provides a four-year BTech programme across four specialisations through Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology. Divided into eight semesters of six months’ duration, admission to all the BTech courses is subject to a valid score in the Assam CEE entrance exam or JEE Main. Furthermore, students also have an option to secure lateral entry admission directly to the second year or third semester of the BTech course. Admission to BTech Lateral Entry courses is subject to a valid score in JLEE Assam exam. Out of the total seats that are available for BTech at Guwahati University, 20% seats are reserved for JEE Main qualifiers provided that they have a valid PRC of Assam. Remaining seats are available for the CEE qualifiers.
