IIT Delhi PhD Highlights 2025
IIT Delhi PhD programme is a doctoral-level course, and it is one of the IIT's courses; thus, getting admission into this course can be slightly challenging. The course is offered in full-time mode and also in part-time mode. The mode of study for this programme depends on the student's choice. The course is offered through several semesters.
Admission: The final selection is completed on merit, evaluated according to the written exam: GATE/ CEED/ UGC/ CSIR /DBT/ ICMR/ INSPIRE Fellowship Exam for Sciences/ Humanities and Social Sciences stream/ INSPIRE Fellowship Exam for Biomedical Engineering, and then the interview rounds. 50 students received domestic offers with package more than INR 1 crore per annum during the IIT Delhi placement drive 2023. Further, the highest international package offered during IIT Delhi placements 2023 stood at INR 2.5 crore per annum.
Yes, some of the hostels of IIT Delhi are air-conditioned. However, non-air-conditioned hostels are also available. The hostels are allotted to the students based on availability. Some lecture theatres are also air-conditioned. Apart from this, some common areas on the campus or hostel also have air conditioning or air coolers.
IIT Delhi admission is entrance-based for all the programmes (Except for PG Diploma). For the diploma course, selection is done merit-basis. Candidates who have passed Class 12 can apply for the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi undergraduate courses. More details around the admission process of some of the courses are provided below:
- Candidates, who have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with an aggregate of 75% or above, can appear for JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced and JoSAA Counselling to seek BTech admission at IIT Delhi.
- Admission to MTech course is based on merit in GATE exam followed by GOAP counselling.
- For MSc, aspirants need to apply with a valid score of IIT JAM and selected candidates have to further go through CCMN counselling.
The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering is 118 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Delhi - Indian Institute of Technology.

IIT Delhi PhD Admission Dates 2024
IIT Delhi PhD applications are invited twice a year in March and October and subsequently, the admissions are carried out in May and December. The minimum duration for MTech candidates pursuing PhD programme is two years, whereas for BTech candidates it is three years. Also, all the candidates are allowed a maximum of seven years for the submission of their thesis.

IIT Delhi BTech admission 2026 is based on JEE Advanced scores. Though the institute records high cutoffs every year, with adequate preparation, anyone can seek admission to its BTech programme. Candidates need to be thorough with their Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus to crack the exam. The students must have a valid score in JoSAA. Also, for similar top-notch or tier 1 BTech colleges such as IITs, NITs and IIITs, the pattern of the entrance for BTech is the same.
Candidates need to have a prep strategy in place to prepare for Part A and Part B of the CEED exam. With 98.28 percentile in JEE first attempt, you can get admission branches, such as ECE, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering in DTU, NSUT, IITD, and NIT Delhi.
