The total course fee is a cumulative of multiple components such as tuition fee, medical fees, transport fees, etc. IIT Delhi PhD tuition fee for full-time course is INR 7,500 per semester. In addition, PhD (part-time/sponsored) programmes is INR 17,500. The hostel fee for PhD candidates is INR 13,250. Some other fee such as students distress fund scheme (each semester) of INR 400 and insurance scheme (yearly) fee of INR 500 may also be added in the fee. Yes, IIT Delhi accepts GATE/CEED/UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR entrance exam scores for admission to different specialisations offered under the IIT Delhi PhD programme. Candidates shortlisted based on the exam score can be called for an interview round by some of the departments. The accepted exam can vary depending upon the chosen PhD specialisation. 

For IIT Delhi PhD admission, candidates need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the institute. Master degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Humanities or equivalent in relevant stream with a CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% aggregate is the basic eligibility criteria for PhD admission. Eligible candidates can apply by filling out the application form by visiting the official website. The selection is based on merit in CSIR-NET/GATE followed by an interview round.

Along with the application form, certain documents have to be submitted. The aspirants are required to submit scanned copies of below-mentioned documents while filling IIT Delhi application form in online mode:

• the latest passport-size photograph
• First and last pages of Aadhar Card/ Voter ID Card/ Passport
• PAN Card
• Admission offer letter
• Entrance exam scorecard
• Qualifying degree certificate
• Qualifying exam mark sheet
• Category certificate (only in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwD category)
• No objection certificate (only in case of part-time applicants)
• Sponsorship certificate/ Relieving letter (in case of full-time sponsored/ full-time working candidates)
• Medical certificate (in case of full-time candidates)

IIT Delhi admission process is conducted on the basis of entrance exams, except for the PG Diploma course. The university accepts several national-level entrance exams for admissions such as JEE Main, GATE,  CAT, IIT JAM,  UCEED, etc. The university conducts its application process in an online mode.

JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025 for BTech course ranged from 126 to 5733 for students in the General AI category, so therefore a student should attain a rank of 5733 or preferably lower to increase their chances of admission to IIT Delhi. Please note that BTech cutoff 2025 will vary according to different rounds, courses, specialisations and categories. At end of IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25, a total of 1,200 offers were made and 1,150 students were placed. In addition, more than 50 international offers were made during IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25. International offers came from more than 15 organisations across multiple global regions. The placement rate recorded during IIT Delhi placements 2023 and 2022 stood at 84.94% and 82%, respectively.

50 students received domestic offers with package more than INR 1 crore per annum during the IIT Delhi placement drive 2023. Further, the highest international package offered during IIT Delhi placements 2023 stood at INR 2.5 crore per annum.
