B.Tech. in Food Processing and Engineering - Batch of 2021
3.6

Good course with high job prospects, but poor placement statistics in the university.
Placements: Only 1.6% of students got placed in my course and batch (I. e., 2 out of 120 students). Only one company came for placement for our batch and that was VKL Seasoning Pvt. Ltd. The salary package offered was about 4.5 LPA. The role offered was that of a Quality Assurance Engineering Trainee. The university did not assist in finding internships for any students, but most of the students obtained an internship and a job after the course by themselves.
Infrastructure: The main facilities available for our course at our university were state-of-the-art laboratories, with different labs for different aspects of our course. No Wi-Fi was provided anywhere except in the computer labs. The classrooms were fine and the library was well-stocked. The rooms and washrooms in our hostel were fine. The quality of the food in the mess was good, there were different areas such as North Indian, South Indian, Kerala, Andhra, and NRI mess. Many varieties of food are available in the hotels surrounding the hostels such as burgers, pizzas, dosa, sandwiches, Pani puri, and anything you can think of. The canteen in the university was also fine and had various dishes. There is a ground in our hostel for playing sports or games, though not much incentive to play was given nor were there many competitions. There is also a hospital outside our hostel, which can take care of basic injuries and sicknesses of students.
Faculty: The teachers were all qualified and knowledgeable, and most are very helpful. The teaching quality was overall fine, some know how to teach remarkably well, and some don't. The course curriculum was very relevant for our field and makes us industry-ready if the student puts in the effort to make full use of it as the curriculum covers every area and aspect of our field in detail. The pass percentage for the semester exams is 50%, and they are not tough to pass if one prepares and studies well.
Other: I chose this course as it was rare compared to the other mainstream engineering fields, and also because this was one of the only food processing engineering courses in the country that didn't require the student to have taken Maths as a subject in 11th and 12th (although the course does include Maths till the 3rd year). The biggest negative of our university would be that there are very few events that take place, and fests are non-existent.

It is a very good campus with a good atmosphere.
Placements: The placement cell is active in our college, and also a lot of students get placed from our college every year. However, compared to other conventional courses, the placements for the specific food processing course are less. The university provides us with many career-oriented programs.
Infrastructure: The campus is huge. Every department has its own dedicated building and labs. The library has its own single building of four floors and is fully air-conditioned. Both college and hostel campuses are Wi-Fi enabled for every student.
Faculty: Every teacher is very well qualified. They are very good at teaching and also help us in every situation. The semester exams are conducted by the college as its a deemed university. The difficulty level is medium and could be cracked easily if we pay proper attention to classes.

Hello Don, If you are doing first year of engineering, then it's theoretically possible to change branch and college. But practically it's impossible. You need to start process of getting Admission in 1st year in Karunya.
