TANUVAS is a first Veterinary University of the country, established in 1989 with NABL and ICAR accreditations. The University offers courses in UG, PG, PhD and PG Diploma level through 9 constituent colleges. Apart from that, TANUVAS Chennai has 15 research laboratories,  20 Veterinary University Training and Research Centers (VUTRCs), 4 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and 3 Farmers Training Centers (FTCs). Located in Erukkancheri, Chennai, TANUVAS has a BSL-3 certified laboratory issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
