MA admission application window is closed for academic year 2024-25 at Kerala University. Registration process for the 2026-28 batch is likely to open in July 2026. 

The University of Kerala is known as one of the top state-run universities of the country. It is ranked at 47 among the top Indian university and 24 under the university category as per the NIRF 2023 rankings. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved all the courses offered by KU. Moreover, it is also re-accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. MA distance courses offered by the university are also recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). Hence, the Kerala University MA degree is valid across the globe.

The requirement of entrance exam varies course-wise. University of Kerala conducts an entrance exam for PG courses. For most of the UG programmes, admission is based on merit in the last qualifying exam. For MBA, the university accepts national or state-level entrance exams such as CAT,  CMAT and KMAT. Kerala University furthers calls the shortlisted candidates for group discussion and personal interview rounds for some of the courses such as MBA, MSW, etc.

Students have to meet the Kerala University eligibility to get admission in the university. The eligibility is different for each programme/ specialisation. The common eligibility is as below:

• Kerala University UG eligibility - Class 12 with relevant subjects
• Kerala University PG eligibility - UG degree in a relevant field
• Kerala University PhD eligibility - PG degree in a relevant field

Kerala University generally does not offer direct admissions. Students have to clear the admission requirements. Seats are allocated through merit/ entrance + CAP basis.
